Who's Austin Mahone Anyways?

Chapter Eight

After playing Just Dance for three hours, and Alex being mad because he lost, we watched some TV and went on our iPhones.

I went on Twitter. I followed all the guys and they followed me back. I tweeted that Alex sucked at Just Dance and he yelled "Hey!" when he saw that all the other guys retweeted it. That was when my phone blew up.

This person retweeted, this person replied, this person favorited. I had fifty new followers within ten minutes. It was crazy!

"My phone is going to burst into flames. What is going on?" I said.

I then remembered what they had said last night, they know and are friends with Austin Mahone, who is famous and extremely attractive.

"Is this going to happen all the time?" I asked.

"Yeah. It'll get worse if you ever hang out with Austin." Robert said.

I couldn't believe how many people were in my mentions. It was overwhelming to say the least.

On Sunday night, which my parents were kind enough to agree to, I stayed at Alex's house again, since we had no school that next week due to construction. We were all just hanging out and joking around when just barely over the music, we heard the door bell ring.

"Maddie go answer the door." Alex said throwing a Nerf basketball at me.

"No way!" I said as I tossed the ball back at him. "I don't even live here!"

"C'mon! Just do it!" Alex pleaded.

"Ugh!" I grumbled as I left the room.

"Just do it!" I mimicked Alex to myself as I walked down the stairs.

I didn't even think to look through the peep hole before opening the door.

I stood there in shock.

It was Austin Mahone.

"Woah. Hi." I said sounding surprised and confused.

I couldn't even think. Actually, I could think about how bad I probably looked. I was wearing leggings and one of Alex's t-shirts since I hadn't planned on staying Sunday as well. I also had my hair in a very messy bun and had on only day old mascara for make-up.

"Hi. Are the guys here?" He asked skeptically.

"Yeah, come on in." I said as I fully opened the door and he walked in.

"Alex!" I sort of yelled as I walked up the stairs, Austin following behind me.

"What?" He yelled back as we arrived at his door.

"Someone's here to see you guys.." I said as I walked. Austin followed slowly after.

"Hey guys!" He said before giving each of them a 'bro hug'. It was cute, kind of like a reunion.

I kind of stood there awkwardly while Alex, Robert, Zach, Andrew, and Cole talked to Austin. I was a seventh wheel. Never thought that would happen..

"Oh wait! Austin, this is Maddie! She just moved to La Vernia!" Alex said to Austin.

"Hey." I said doing an awkward wave.

"Hi." Austin said smiling at me.

"Yeah, she didn't even know who you were until last night!" Robert added.

Austin looked at me again with a surprised look on his face.

"They didn't have YouTube where you lived right?" Cole said.

"Very funny." I said sarcastically.

"Where are you from?" Austin asked.

"New Hampshire." I told him.

Before he could say anything he was cut off.

"Maddie almost got us killed on Friday, you're gonna love this." Alex said before telling Austin how I had tricked them all.

By the end of the story everyone was laughing and arguing over what had happened.

"You had a guy come at them with a gun?!" Austin asked me as he laughed.

"They were playing me the whole week! They deserved it! And it was full of blanks!" I said.

I couldn't help but smile. Austin was super cute and nice. Almost as if he was made to be this perfect guy that every girl in the world wanted. I can't even begin to explain how perfect his smile is.

"Then, last night she beat me at bowling!" Alex said.

"And that was a surprise?" Austin said. Everyone laughed.

"Hey, I'll go grab some food." Alex said getting up.

Cole and Andrew both went to look for something in Andrew's room and Zach and Robert were racing to the bathroom. Which left me alone with Austin.

"Were you the one who texted me?" He asked.

"Yeah. After they told me about you, they all seemed a little upset so I stole Alex's phone. Thanks for coming. They all seem psyched that you're here." I said.

"So you had no idea who I was? Or that they're all like kinda famous too?" He questioned.

"I had no idea. All I knew when I met Alex was that our History teacher hated him and that he and I have a tendency to run into people." I answered.

"So you're not some crazy fan who is dating Alex to get to me? You're not going to hurt him? Because that has happened before." He asked uneasily.

"Wait, back up there. Alex and I are not dating." I said surprised that he thought we were.

"You're not?"

"Nope."

"Oh, well sorry for assuming. Alex has a way with girls." He said.

"Obviously not as good as others since he had one trick him like it was April Fools." I said. He laughed.

"You know, ever since I got popular on YouTube, I never made any new friends. And when I moved to Miami and got signed I didn't either. Couldn't really trust anyone new.. ya know?" He said fumbling with the Rubix Cube that was in his hand.

"Yeah. That must be rough." I said, looking at him moving the cubes pieces.

"It is. But, I think I'm going to take a chance with you Maddie. Because they all like you and they've only known you two weeks. And you've known them for two weeks and haven't left yet." He laughed.

"Well, good to know we're kind of friends." I said laughing a little.

"So I brought chips, dip, popcorn, and there's drinks in the mini fridge, as always." Alex said as he walked in the room.

"Sweet!" I said jumping out of the chair and grabbing the bag of Cool Ranch Doritos.

"Hey! Those are my favorite!" Austin said trying to grab the bag.

"Well that sucks, doesn't it?" I said running over Alex's bed and eating a chip before smiling and laughing at him. "Don't worry Austin, I'll treat you exactly like everyone else."

I like this sort-of-not-really-but-kinda friends thing.
