We drove and picked up Robert and Zach then got Cole and Andrew from Alex's house. I just sat in between Cole and Robert and watched outside the window looking at the town being lit up with neon signs and people roaming the streets.
We got to the bowling alley and it was a little busy. We rented our "clown shoes" as Alex called them, and then waited for the lights to go out. Alex said you got used to the dark pretty quick and since the pins and bowling balls glow, I wouldn't have a problem. Except for the fact that I sucked at bowling, but other than that I'd be fine.
When the lights went out music started to play and the bowling alley became a glow in the dark wonderland. We set up our game with everyone's names and began to play. Alex started out rough, only knocking down five of the ten pins. Robert did a little better getting seven, Zach did the same, Cole got eight, and Andrew got three, the worst so far. I went up and knocked down five on the first ball, two more on the second, and then two that were in the left corner on my third and final ball, making it so I had knocked down nine pins on my first try. Of course, getting better than the five guys I was with, I gave them shit about it until I got up again. The next time didn't go as well, I only got seven but Andrew continued to get less than me so I still was doing good. Alex was improving, now getting spares and one strike. Robert had gotten a couple of spares but was still behind Zach who had gotten a strike on his third turn.
As the end of the game was approaching, I was in third behind Alex and Cole. I had to get a spare then get five pins down on the first ball to pass Cole for second then get a spare to even try to compete with Alex. We were on the last turn, I had passed Cole by getting six and was trying for my spare to get close to Alex. As I bowled my second ball, I knocked the rest of the pins down to get a spare. The rest of the guys were freaking out, creating a scene which made most of the bowling alley stare at us. Alex had apparently won every string they had played during glow in the dark bowling, so if I beat him, I'd be some sort of god? I don't know.. boys are weird.
Alex had gotten a spare the turn before. He had to get seven pins knocked down for me to need to get a strike to win. He bowled the ball and we all waited on the edge of the bench.. he only knocked down four. This meant I had to knock down seven pins to win, six pins to tie. Robert gave me a hilarious pep talk before I went up. I honestly didn't care if I won or not so I kind of just bowled the ball. As the rest of the guys came running behind me to see what was going to happen, I felt as if the whole bowling alley was waiting also. We waited what seemed like forever to see the most perfect ending to the game. A strike. The guys began to yell and scream. Robert and Zach picked me up in the air and spun me around. Alex laughing at their excitement. I honestly thought we were going to get kicked out of the bowling alley but the guy at the shoe counter was just laughing.
"Congrats, you beat the champion." Alex said as he walked over to me after Robert and Zach put me down.
"Ehh, I don't think you ever were the champion. You were just waiting for me to show up and kick your ass." I said with an evil smile.
"And I thought you sucked at bowling?" Alex said questioning me.
"I did suck at bowling.. when I was seven." I said. "I never said I currently sucked at bowling, I said I sucked, thus referencing the past. Lawyered."
"You're sneaky.." Alex said raising an eyebrow.
"Get used to it." I said before walking back towards Robert who was literally on his knees praising me.
The one string we played took an hour and a half, meaning the bowling alley was closing in thirty minutes so no rematch, though one was declared, would be played that night. We all piled into Alex's car and went back to his house. This was the first time I'd been inside and it was really nice. Alex and Andrew's rooms were upstairs so we went up there.
The first thing I saw in Alex's room was a Selena Gomez poster. I'm not a big fan of hers so I rolled my eyes. I think Cole saw me and he laughed. Alex's room was a decent size and had a lot of stuff in it. As soon as we got in the room I ran to the rolly chair so nobody else could sit in it.
"Ha! Losers!" I yelled while spinning around.
"Alex farts in that all day long so none of us are jealous." Robert said laughing. I looked at him funny but saw that he was lying so I stood my ground and stayed in the chair.
Everybody took their iPhone's out and started tweeting or checking Facebook. I did the same so not to be awkward. I wasn't going to follow any of them because that'd probably be awkward. I didn't have many followers on Twitter but it's not like I was anything special so it's not like it mattered.
I tweeted how I beat Alex and that I was now the bowling champion. No one retweeted it, like usual.
"Alex you gotta let everyone know that you didn't win bowling tonight.. and that you lost to a girl." Robert said.
"No way. Followers don't need to know I'm not the champion anymore." Alex replied.
"Scared like a cat." Andrew said.
"What?" We all asked at once.
"Scared like a cat.." Andrew repeated.
"No, it's scaredy cat.." I said.
"I've been saying it wrong all this time?" Andrew asked.
"Yeah.." We all said.
"Let's watch a movie. Alex go pick one from the stash!" Robert said.
"I always pick bad ones and you end up going." Alex argued.
"Maybe you've learned since last week young Skywalker." Robert said. I just about died laughing.
"Fine." Alex said setting down his phone and walking out the door.
I rolled over to where he had set his phone and grabbed it.
"What are you doing?" Robert asked with an evil grin.
"Tweeting that he lost at bowling, duh." I said. Robert came over to give me a high five.
"Respect." He said.
"What's his pass code?" I asked.
"I think it's 9327.." Robert said. I typed it in and his twitter feed popped up.
'Lost at bowling tonight, to a girl. No longer the champion.' I tweeted, then suddenly the mentions tab opened up and I saw hundred of tweets pouring in, the 20 new tweets thing popping up constantly.
"What's going on with this thing?" I said to myself.
"You know don't you?" Robert said.
"Know what?" I asked nervously. Was he about to tell me they were murders?
"We're friends with Austin Mahone." Robert said.
That honestly meant nothing to me.
"Okay.." I said confused.
"Alex! Maddie didn't know we're friends with Austin!" Robert yelled. I could hear Alex run up the stairs.
"You didn't know that we're friends with Austin Mahone?" Alex asked.
"No. Who's Austin Mahone anyways? I've never heard of him." I said.
I then heard a story that changed my life forever.
