A/N: That's right, I'm back with another AU, this time not a highschool one and I have a good feeling about this one! Leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments and anything you want to happen in the future that I can weave in. Anyway, there's some Jalec above as we haven't met Magnus yet and (these were the songs from my previous, deleated, book) When I Come Home by SayWeCanFly.
"And that's why we don't go out at night, especially because of the Werewolves." Jace told innocent little Max.
"Leave the poor kid alone, Jace. He doesn't understand." Alec sighed, hitting his Parabatai upside of the head.
"Oh come on, Alec. I'm just teasing." Jace grinned.
"But... It's a full moon tomorrow night..." Max mumbled. After a moment of thought, Max's head shot up to look fearfully at Alec. Alec rolled his eyes and hit Jace again, earning a yelp from the blond haired Nephilim.
"Max, it's a myth. A story. You can't believe anything Jace tells you unless it's verified." Alec explained, grabbing two feather staffs from the wall, throwing one to Jace, catching him off guard and whacking him in the face. Alec burst into laughter at the pure shock that etched the younger's face.
"No fair! I wasn't ready!" Jace complained, regaining himself and grabbing the staff from the floor. Alec had doubled over with laughter. "And besides, I tell the truth! I've seen a Faerie before! Spoken to her! A vision of pure beauty. I was in a trance."
Alec had stopped laughing and bent down to Max. "He's talking about Clary again." he whispered.
"I heard that!" Jace growled, lashing out with the staff. Alec easily blocked the blow.
"You were in a trance because you fell in love with her." Alec shrugged, warding off another attack.
"She could've been a Faerie." Jace grumbled. Alec let out a huff of laughter before the two got into a full-scale fight with Max watching excitedly from the sidelines.
The pair battled for a while before finally, Alec got Jace on the floor, weaponless and with a staff directed at his heart. Max clapped. Alec allowed a grin to slip onto his face. "Finally beat you, huh?"
"Whatever. You've been doing extra training, haven't you?" Jace asked, pushing himself up into a sitting position as Alec eased his weight off his Parabatai.
"Yeah. I've started running every morning. Bring up my fitness. Paid off I see."
"Oh shh. I-"
"Alec beat you I see?" a new voice mused. Jace's expression turned slowly to defeat.
"I did." Alec smirked, turning to the approaching red-head.
"Hmm. You need to step up your game, Jace."
"Apparently so." Jace muttered. Jace surprised Alec by shooting up onto his knees and giving Alec a harsh shove on the chest, causing the older to fall onto his back. Jace pounced on Alec, pinning him down. "If I were a Vampire, you'd be dead."
"Wait, Vampires are real too?" Max asked, fearfully.
"No, Max. They're not real. And Jace," Alec added.
"Mmm?" Jace grunted.
"Never let your guard down or get distracted. And never, ever, hesitate to kill."
Jace hadn't realised that Alec's wrist had slid free from Jace's grasp and Jace was holding his arm, not wrist and Alec, had in fact, grabbed the staff that was strewn above his head. Alec, using his new found leverage, flipped the two of them over and pressed the staff into Jace's neck, causing him to momentarily choke. Alec leant down to Jace's ear.
