A/N: I'm still here. I'm sorry this took so long. For those of you waiting for my other oneshot series to update, I'll get on that tomorrow Greenwich Mean Time (British time) so you won't have to wait too long for another chapter. Anyway, there's Malec above plus Keeper of your Heart by The Icarus Account.

Alec stumbled through the forest, Lucian's words playing through his mind, repeatedly. He can't have been there for that long. He'd been there a few days tops! Not...

Alec finally came across the mansion that he'd tried so hard to escape. He threw open the front door and screamed for Magnus. Ragnor met him instead.

"Alec? What's wrong?" he inquired.

"Where is Magnus?" Alec asked in a dangerously low tone.

"Here." a voice sighed from up the stairs. Alec's eyes darted to see a dishevelled Magnus, slowly descending the stairs. Alec stormed toward him and shoved him hard in the chest when he reached the bottom, causing the Warlock to stumble backwards a few steps.

"WHAT THE HELL! A YEAR, MAGNUS! A WHOLE, FUCKING YEAR YOU'VE KEPT ME HERE!" Alec shouted, pushing him again.

"I'm sorry, Alexander. Truly, I am. I should have told you the truth from the start" Magnus mumbled, running a hand over his face. Alec's anger boiled higher.

"Yeah. You should have." he growled, punching Magnus in the face, causing him to fall to the ground with a groan. After a moment, Magnus pushed himself up off the floor and faced Alec again.

"I deserved that. I really did." Magnus nodded. "I guess I should explain. There's a reason as to why we hide from the world. That's because of the war between the Werewolves and the Vampires. Getting Shadowhunters, like yourself, involved is dangerous. It's a centuries-old war between them that can't be stopped. If it were to move to mundane cities, innocents would die. So many would cross paths with the rivalling sides and would be killed in cold blood. My race, the Warlocks, have been keeping everyone hidden to protect us and the outside world."

"How? How do you have the power to orchestrate the whole thing? The others don't like you very much, that's not hard to recognise. One man can't control time. One man can't control who enters and who leaves this seemingly never ending forest." Alec pointed out.

"That'll be because I struck a deal with one of the nine princes of Hell. Asmodeus. Better known to me as my real father."

Alec blinked a few times at that news.

"You're-"

"Don't. I know what I am. I know who I am and what I've done. I know what I can do and what he's done. It was stupid of me to make a deal with him. He promised to give me enough power to control time within the forest and affect everyone inside of it as long as I give him... people... once a year. I don't know what he does with them, that wasn't a part of our agreement. It was a whole, no questions asked, kind of deal. It was a mistake. A stupid, stupid mistake. I thought it was high time I ended the agreement I struck nearly seven-hundred-years-ago. That's why I bought you here. To help me defeat him and fix the Downworld's problems."

"I still don't understand, Magnus! Why me!" Alec cried, shoving Magnus a bit further.

"Remember what Lucian said? That we wiped the memory of any Downworlder who comes into contact with anyone? I've come into contact with you. Multiple times." Magnus explained, desperately reaching out for Alec who stepped back.

"What do you mean?!"

"I... I can't tell you." Magnus breathed, dropping his vision to the ground.
