A/N: I didn't think it's been this long! Anyway, there's Malec above along with Driftwood Heart by SayWeCanFly (breaking the trend of alternating between them and the Icarus Account, I know.) We're probably one chapter away from finishing so brace yourself.

"I'm sorry, we're doing what now?" Jace asked, staring at Magnus incredulously.

"You heard me. We're going to kill Asmodeus."

"And what good will that do us apart from bringing the wrath of hell on us?" Jace shot back.

Magnus sighed. "It'll break my deal with him. I won't have to kill anymore. That's why I bought Alexander here. I hoped he'd help me."

"Why did you keep me for a fucking year, Magnus?" Alec growled.

"Because the gateway to the other realm only opens once a year. I had to wait. I was going to tell you when the time was right and I was going to call upon Jace. You have to trust me with that."

"We've trusted you thus far," Jace mumbled. "Alright. We'll do it. But what's in it for us?"

Magnus thought for a moment. "Your lives?"

"Not good enough. We risk those every day."

Another pause. "You're memories."

There was silence. Alec caught on first. "Our memories of you?"

"Your memories of the entire Downworld. All of us. For every Shadowhunter there is in this world."

"Why would you risk that? There is still the war going on."

"It carries on because of my stupid deal with the devil," Magnus grumbled, sitting on the stairs. "I only found out recently that he's keeping the war going so I'll keep giving him people for power to contain them. If I get rid of him, the war ends. There will still be tensions but it'll be civil enough to release them into the human world."

"We're in." Jace agreed after a second of making eye contact with Alec. Alec gave a curt nod.

"Really? You'll help me?" Magnus asked, his face lighting up. Alec nodded again with a small smile.

"Yeah. We'll help," he confirmed. Magnus let a relieved smile onto his features.

"Thank you. Thank you so much."

Magnus directed the other two to a back room that was completely empty apart from a large, stunning, ornate mirror. "That's where the doorway opens. Be ready. It opens in a few moments."

"Why can't you open it?" Jace asked.

"Because if I do, it seems suspicious. He has to and he has to meet me. You're going to have to act like I've captured the both of you also."

"How do we do that?"

"I don't know but he's only expecting one of you."

Jace rolled his eyes and turned to Alec.

"Carry me," Jace ordered.

"I'm doing what now?" Alec replied.

"Carry me. If he's only expecting one, make it seem like I went searching for you, found you and became unconscious. It wouldn't have been safe to leave me at home because I could've told someone and ordered a search party." Jace explained.

"Good plan." Alec nodded and crouched. Jace positioned himself over Alec's shoulder and Alec stood up straight, bringing Jace with him.

"Comfortable?" Alec asked. Jace grunted in response. At that very moment, the mirror started swirling violently.
