A/N: I know it took a long time but here it is! Chapter 7... Finally... Please leave ideas as to what you want to happen. I might even incorporate them. You ever know... Unless it's to do with the ending. I have a plan for the ending. Above we've got some Jalec and So In Love by the Icarus Account

Alec's heart leapt as he came face to face with his Parabatai again. He started toward him but Jace held up his hand to signal Alec to stop. Alec froze and Jace shook his head. The older sighed in understanding. "Please do not take my hand. Don't even try. Please."

"Am I dead?" he asked.

Jace shook his head again. "No. Not yet. But you have to wake up or you will be."

"I don't understand. How is this possible?" Alec asked.

"I don't expect you to. This is in your mind, Alec. You have to wake up."

"How? How do I wake up?"

"Not yet." Jace instructed. "Just, listen to me. In this entire world, there is one person you can trust. One and only one. Find them."

"Who is it?" Alec questioned, taking a step forward, only to be met with silence. Jace lowered his head to look at the floor.

"I can't tell you."

"You can't or you won't?" Alec spoke, harshly. Once again, there wasn't a reply. "Can you not tell me anything?"

"Alec, I only know what you know." Jace laughed, looking up at Alec through his eyelashes, his head staying lowered.

"How?"

"I'm your subconscious. I guess I am the person you wanted to see most in your dying moments."

"You said I'm not dead." Alec pointed out.

Jace's gaze lowered again. "You're slipping."

"You're the light at the end of my tunnel, aren't you?" Alec asked, quietly. Jace nodded solemnly.

"The more and more we talk, the more you die. I need to be quick. Find the one person you can trust."

"If you know there is someone I can trust, then you should know who it is."

"I do but I can't tell you. Find that person. Think. Who is the one person who has told you the truth since you got here?"

Alec paused, closing his eyes. He thought as hard as he could. "Mrs Black?" he asked.

"No." Jace replied. His voice sounded distant. Alec's eyes shot open to see Jace fading.

"What-"

"You're waking up. Don't stop now. Find that person you can trust, Alec. Find them and ask them."

"Ask them what?!" Alec cried, reaching for Jace, only for his hand to phase right through him.

"The question you've longed to ask Magnus Bane."

With that, Jace disappeared and Alec felt a splitting pain in his head, he cried out and the world around him started shifting. He could hear voices around him.

"It's my fault. I should have just told him."

"You were protecting him."

"From what? Myself? Or this world in general?"

"A bit of both. You can't protect everyone."

"I won't let him die on me."

"Why not?"

"You know why."

"Say it. Say the three words. Say it!"

"I l..."

Alec cried out again and his surroundings turned from inky blackness into a blinding white. Slowly, things came into focus. There was a figure crowding him, speaking but he sounded underwater. Slowly, he began to be able to make out what he was saying. "Alexander? Can you hear me?"

"What..." Alec coughed and sat himself up. Previous events flooded back to him and he shot out of the bed he had only just realised he was lying on. He was hit with a wave of dizziness and nearly keeled over only to be grabbed by another person as Magnus was still in his line of blurred sight.

"Steady. You lost a lot of blood." a familiar British voice soothed. Ragnor.

"You nearly had me killed!" Alec yelled, trying to break away from Ragnor only to fall to his knees as the room tilted, leaving him feeling a little sick. Magnus sighed and made his way over, carefully pulling Alec to his feet.

"You defied me." Magnus spat. "I do not do well with people going against my demands."

"You act all tough and everything but I heard you. You were afraid."

Magnus froze a look of horror on his face. "What are you talking about?"

"I won't let him die on me." Alec quoted from Magnus. He'd put two and two together and realised that it was Magnus and Ragnor talking to one another about him. "I should have just told him." he continued hatefully. "Told. Me. What?"

"None of your concern."

"Magnus," Ragnor warned. "He heard you say those words. Tell him already for heaven's sake. Or I will."

"You will not dare."

"Try me. You wouldn't hurt me. You can try but you know everyone else will turn against you."

"If they haven't already for what you did to Alec." a new voice growled. Everyone turned to the door to be met with Tessa and Catarina. Their faces were stone cold, their eyes like glass. They looked hateful.

"What I did was not only for his benefit but for everyone else's."

"My benefit? How the HELL was any of that for MY benefit?!" Alec shouted. "You nearly had me killed! I was so close to death, I saw the damn light at the end of the tunnel!"

"I... If I'd... I didn't... Wait... You did?"

"So what if I did?! The point is, you nearly had me killed!"

"Who did you see?"

"What?"

"WHO DID YOU SEE?!" Magnus hollered, storming toward Alec, red-faced, his hands glowing a dangerous blue. He was stopped in his tracks when a green light flashed from behind Alec, hitting Magnus directly in the chest. Magnus flew back, toppling over the bed and landing the other side, unconscious.

Tessa, who had remained at the door the entire time, moved to Magnus to check his pulse. She looked up at Ragnor and nodded. Ragnor sighed and sat down on the bed.

"There is so much that you need to know but..." he trailed off.

"But what?" Alec prompted.

"We can't. If we do, then bad things will happen to us. It's happened before, it'll happen again. Whatever that person who you saw said to you, you have to do what they said. There isn't anything we can do. You have to find your own way. We can keep Magnus at bay for now but there's only so much we can do. Go. Leave. Run." Ragnor explained.

Alec nodded and retrieved his Stele and Seraph Blade that were on the bedside table. With that, he ran. Down the stairs and to the front door. He grabbed the door handle and heard a loud yell for his name. He didn't turn. "ALEXANDER GIDEON LIGHTWOOD! DO NOT DARE LEAVE THIS HOUSE!" Magnus screamed. Alec's head twitched with anger and he threw the door open.

There was a cry from behind him and a thud. He turned to see Magnus lying unconscious half way down the stairs and Ragnor looking down at him. The green warlock made eye contact with him and gave a curt nod. Alec returned the gesture and disappeared into the woods.
