A/N: Howdy all, I'm here with another late chapter for you. When summer rolls around I'll have more time on my hands so I'll update any story I may have on the go then. Anyway, there an amazing fanart picture of TV show Magnus above alone with Heaven is Hell by SayWeCanFly.

"You're... alive? How... What?" Jace stammered. Alec let out a short laugh.
"Slow down, Jace. One question at a time."
"You're not dead. I knew it! I knew you weren't dead!" Jace cried out. Alec could practically hear Jace's tears on the other end. There was muffled talking and suddenly he had Isabelle screaming in his ear.
"WHAT THE FUCK, ALEC?! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN!" she screeched, causing Alec to pull the phone away from his ear with a grunt. Magnus gave him an incredulous look as he'd evidently heard Izzy's words crystal clear.
"Um... I don't really know how to explain it. Can you put Jace back on the line? I really need to talk to him." Alec tried. Izzy sighed and moments later, Jace was talking again.
"What's wrong? Need me to come and get you? Even if you don't, I am. I don't trust you by yourself. Not for another year because THAT'S HOW LONG YOU WERE GONE!"
"Don't shout at me, Jace. It was not my fault. I thought I'd been gone three days."
"How in the-"
"Warlocks, Jace. They're real. As are werewolves, the fair folk and vampires. I've met them."
There was a pause. "Are you feeling okay? The people who kidnapped you, did they drug you?"
"Maybe? I don't know what they did but I'm alright, I promise."
Alec glanced over at Magnus again and Magnus held his hand out, signifying he wanted to speak to Jace.
"Hang on. One of them wants to talk to you."
"What? Alec!" Jace tried but Alec handed the phone over.
"Hello?" There was yelling from Jace's end. "Be quiet! I didn't want to do what I did but I had no choice. Look. I need your help... You'll help me if Alec does, right?... Thought so. Anyway, I need you to go to the edge of the forest near Brooklyn for me... No, he won't... He's needed here... Midnight... Alright."
Magnus handed the phone back.
"Do you trust him?" Jace asked immediately.
"I... I don't know. I feel like I should. Like I know him. I'll explain everything but do as he says. Please." Alec begged. Jace sighed.
"Alright. If you trust him, though I'm not sure why, then so shall I." Jace agreed reluctantly. "I'll see you later."
With that, Alec hung up the phone and slid it into his jacket pocket. He turned to Magnus with a harsh stare.
"Stele and Seraph Blade, if you please." he ordered, voice stone cold. "I know you have them. You told me I lost my phone but that was here. I want them, now."
Magnus nodded and clicked his fingers. Appearing on the floor in front of Alec were his blade and Stele. Alec scooped them up, slid his stele into his jacket pocket and hooked his weapons belt around him which had appeared with the Seraph Blade. "I can make it nearly midnight if you want to see him now."
Alec hesitated before nodding slowly. Magnus sighed and raised his hands which started glowing blue. Alec felt something strange hit him but moments later, the feeling subsided and that was it. It was night. Alec could tell by looking through the window.
"That was-"
"Strange. I know. I'm going to head out now to meet Jace. Wait here. Please. It's night and not safe for you to leave." Magnus said, pushing himself up off the floor and headed for the door.
"Why do you care? You left me out there to die before."
Magnus paused for a moment.
"It was a mistake. I didn't want to do that."
"Then, why did you?"
Another pause. "I have to protect you. You don't understand and you won't. Not yet."
"Why can't you tell me now?"
"Because it's unsafe for you to know now." Magnus started again but Alec launched himself up off the floor and reached for Magnus, grabbing him by the arm. Magnus looked down at Alec's hand with what only could be described as sadness and emotional pain.
"Why? What are you protecting me from? I can assure you, I don't need protecting."
Magnus gave Alec a sad smile. "Don't I know it."
"Then why are you trying to protect me?"
Magnus turned away and didn't respond. "Fine then. What are you protecting me from?"
"Myself." With that, Magnus pulled away from Alec and exited the house, leaving a confused Alec standing there at a loss for words.

"ALEC!" Jace cried, running toward Alec who had been sat on the staircase. Alec jumped up and grabbed Jace, pulling him into a desperate hug which the blonde gratefully accepted. With tears slipping from his eyes, Alec clung to the smaller man for dear life. He could feel Jace shaking with what he thought was either relief or tears. Probably the latter. "I thought I'd lost you." Jace sobbed, his speech muffled by Alec's shoulder.
"It's going to take more than that to be rid of me." Alec joked. Jace laughed. After a few more moments, the pair broke apart. Jace wiped his tears away with his sleeve, grinning madly. Alec turned to glance at Magnus who had a rapidly forming bruise on his cheekbone. "Did he..." Alec gestured to his own face, addressing Magnus. The warlock nodded.
"In all honesty, I deserved it."
"Yeah. You did." Jace growled. Alec placed a hand on Jace's shoulder.
"Look. I bought you here for a reason, okay? I need both of you to help me stop what I caused. I need strong Shadowhunters and you two are the strongest I know."
"But you don't know us." Jace snarled, taking a threatening step toward Magnus who didn't budge.
"Hold on, Jace. I think he does. That's what you meant when you said you'd come into contact with me multiple times. Lucian knew me because he'd been like a father to Clary but I couldn't piece together what you meant. You know us, very well, don't you?" Alec inquired.
"More than you know." Magnus mumbled. "Will you help me, or not?" he asked.
"We will." Alec confirmed.
"We will?" Jace chimed in.
"We will." Alec repeated firmly. Jace sighed.
"Fine. We will."
"Thank you." Magnus sighed. "Give me half an hour and I'll be ready."
"What exactly are we going to do? You haven't explained anything to us. Or me, at least." Jace questioned.
"We're going to kill my dad. We're going to kill Asmodeus."
