Tris's POV
*next day*

Today is our free day to explore the city before tomorrow, which is the show.

I think today I'm going to walk around by myself because trust me, living with all boys is chaos all of the time.

And I've only been there for one night.

I now know everyone that is there;

Nash Grier
Cameron Dallas
Carter Reynolds
Matthew Espinosa
Jack Johnson
Jack Glinsky
Taylor Caniff

And I already know Aaron and Shawn.

That's the gang and it's all fun and games until someone gets smack-camed.

It's where someone puts some random item on their hand and then smacks it onto another persons face without them paying attention.

Everyone had gotten it except for me because I told them I would get revenge on them if they did so and after Shawn had told them what I did to him after he pranked me, they all promised they wouldn't do it.

But knowing Shawn, he will do it anyway. And that's what he did. Last night I was watching tv and all of a sudden I had whip cream all over the side of my face.

So yeah, that's why I will more than likely go around LA by myself.

I finish getting ready and lace up my black converse. I throw my hair into a messy pony tail and curl it.

I don't bother putting on makeup because I'm not trying to impress anyone and plus, I don't need makeup to feel beautiful.

Okay that sounded cocky but I'm confident on how I look so I don't feel like I need makeup.

I finish doing my hair and make sure I didn't get anything on my white lace top.

After I check, I grab my side bag with my journal in it and two tickets for magcon. Bart wants us to always keep them handy just in case.

I walk down the long staircase very quietly.

It's only 7:00 am and nobody else is awake so I don't want to wake them up.

I run into the kitchen and grab an apple and a water bottle and slip them into my bag then call an uber.

Once the uber arrives I tell him to drop me off at the boardwalk since that's the only place I really know what's what.

"So, are you enjoying your stay in Cali?" The man asks while driving.

"Yeah, it's great but how did you know I was visiting?" I laugh.

"Oh I noticed your slight accent. Where are you from?" He questions.

"Canada" I smile. "I've been there before, it's cold down there ya?" He laughs slightly and I nod my head.

"So what brings you here?"

"I'm here for a conviction called MAGcon, I am a member of it"

"Magcon? Where have I heard that name before? Hm..." he thinks for a moment,

"Oh! I know, my daughter has been begging to go there to see a boy named Shawn Mendes? She has his videos on replay all of the time and she wants to see this girl named Tris too, she said she wants to be like her one day" he says.

Woah, my uber drivers daughter is a fan? How cool.

"Wait, what's your name?" He asks.

"Tris Parker" I smile.

"No way! Oh my gosh I have to tell my daughter. She is going to die, well not literally of course." His eyes go wide.

We pull up to the boardwalk and I hop out then go to the driver side window of the car.

"Well, how about I do a bit better than that and hook you up with two tickets to the show tomorrow?" I smile.

"No, I can't let you do that" He says.

"But I'm going to," I pull out the two backstage passes to the show tomorrow and hand them to the guy.

I guess those tickets did come in handy.

"The time to be there is on the back side of the ticket. And when you get to the venue tomorrow I will make sure that Shawn and I personally give your daughter a backstage tour after the show" I tell him.

"T-thank you so much, I have to call my daughter right now. Oh and this ride was on me. I can't thank you enough Ruby is going to be so happy!" He smiles looking at the tickets.

"Thanks and no problem, see you guys tomorrow!" I smile and wave, he waves and drives and I see him pull out his phone, I'm assuming to call Ruby, I think that was her name.

I smile to myself and the turn facing the boardwalk.

I start walking down it looking at all of the different shops with the wind in my face.

Then I stop at my favorite shop so far.

The icecream parlor.

I happily walk inside and a cold breeze hits me.

I walk up to the counter and look at all of the different choices.

Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Cotton Candy...

The list goes on and on but I finally stop at one that I really enjoy.

"Excuse me, may I have the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, one scoop, waffle cone?" I smile at the lady.

"Sure thing" she smiles back and grabs the delicious waffle cone then scoops out the icecream and places it on the cone.

She hands it to me, "that will be $1.40 please" I reach down to grab my money.

I pull out the exact amount and hand it to her.

"Thank you" she smiles. "No thank you" I correct her and laugh licking the deliciousness before it melts.

I walk out of the little shop and spot a small table looking over the ocean.

Nobody is sitting there so I decide to sit down.

I pull down my journal and decide to write something since I haven't done it in a while;

Dear Future Self,
You aren't even famous but already people know who you are. Just don't let the "fame" go to your head. Because sometimes it all gets a little to much, but you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up... oh and I hope you got out of your stupid, simple poetry / songwriting days because I'm not that great at it right now. Or I hope you got better atleast ahaha byee.

I close my journal and put it back into my bag then I finish my icecream and throw the rest away.

It's only 8:46 and I still haven't gotten a text from any of the guys so either they aren't awake or they haven't realized I'm gone.

*ding*

Spoke to soon, I sigh and grab my phone. It's Shawn. Do I reply or no? The whole point of exploring Cali by myself was to get away from everyone...

Including Shawn.

I don't know I just feel like he's been hiding something from me lately and I can't quite put my finger on it.

I throw my phone back into my bag and continue to walk around the boardwalk looking at all of the different shops.

A/N : this chapter was terrible and boring but I don't have anything better to do other than write. So here I am writing three chapters in a row without stopping. I think this is my last update tonight though. And I know it ended bad but I hope you liked it. P.S: IMPORTANT! Lyrics are important through the rest of this book so if I use a lyric as a refreshing to something, remember what I referenced it to and what lyric it was. It sounds confusing but just do it then when I write more chapters it will all unravel.
