A/n: I'm so sorry I didn't update. It was all because of school! I had many quizzes and stuff to do, so... sorry. D:
I barricaded the apartment’s door just in case, trying to be as quite as possible. After that I checked the kitchen for some food and water, but only found water. All they had in their fridge were rotten fruits. I checked the drawers and cupboards and guess what, knives. I took as much as I could, big and small. I need everything I could get to defend myself.
After I got done looking, I made my way to the girl’s room and locked it. I looked out of the window to see the zombies. They didn’t know we were here, they just wandered aimlessly sniffing random objects and bumping into each other. Slowly, I closed the window and threw myself on the bed and sighed. This was so comfy! I forgot what a real bed feels like. I didn’t even realize it when I fell asleep. I miss this.
KNOCK KNOCK!
I jolted awake at the knocking sound. It was morning, I could tell from looking at the window, but that’s not important now. The sound was coming from something that was hitting the door to this room, and that scared me because if Duncan and Claire managed to get in, I would’ve heard them before they got inside the apartment since I barricaded the apartment’s door. Actually, it would be nearly impossible for them to get inside, so the question is, who was knocking the room’s door outside?
I got out of the bed quickly picking my backpack in the process and stood still in the middle of the room just listening. I even stopped breathing to listen. My heart was beating faster every second, but I had to know what was outside. Then I heard it.“Rrraaagh” A zombie. I felt like someone spilled ice cold water on my whole body when the fact that I had slept in a room with only a door between me and a zombie. I didn’t make any sound as I held my breath and stood still. I heard the zombie dragging its feet away hitting the wall making quieter knock knock sounds. I wondered from where the zombie came from, and then I remembered…
Duncan opened a room’s door before leaving; they must’ve known a zombie was there!
He tried to kill me. I was right to not trust anybody, and I’m glad I didn’t or I’d be dead by now. Quietly, I made my way to the window opening it and slid out climbing back up to the roof. But before I did, I peeked at the rood to check if there are any zombies I should be careful of. There were two, so it was safe. Zombies are very slow, and before they reach me, I’d be three or four buildings away. If they were more than two, let us say five, it will be dangerous.
I climbed to the roof and cracked my bones making the zombies turn their attention to me which made them start stumbling towards me. Without waiting any further, I jumped into the next building’s roof, into another and another and so on. I didn’t set a foot on the ground trying my best to stay alive.
I kept looking for building to stay in since I need rest for my shoulder to heal. I found a place to stay in for a week and a half, but then I had to move on because the place where I was in was getting crowded by more zombies each day, which was dangerous.
It’s been 3 weeks, my shoulder still hurts a bit, but not as much as it used to which was a great relief.
Oh! I forgot to mention that I killed another zombie, and this time it was an adult male!
Turns out that the knives I took were very useful. You see, when I was staying at one of the building, it got a but crowded outside, so I checked the halls for any sign of zombies and there were none, so I naïvely let my guard down and ambled to the room I was staying in, but before I got in, I heard a grunt. Zombies always grunt, so the grunting meant there was a zombie nearby. It was a bad sign. The zombie dragged itself to me and I tried not to panic like I always do…
Now, I wasn’t stupid, I was afraid. Being afraid made me more cautious and that’s why I was prepared for something like that, although I did not really expected it to happen. But you know my luck. What I meant by being prepared was me taking one of the knives with me. I quickly struck the zombies head – slow approach doesn’t work with zombies, unless you want to get bitten that is.
Dark brown blood oozed out of the zombie’s head – it was disgusting and slimy – so I pulled the knife out with a squish sound. Soon after that the nauseating smell filled the hallway. I kicked the zombie’s dead body and waked inside wiping the knife.
That is how I killed my third zombie.
Besides I get to spend another week in this building because the zombie’s stench repelled the other zombies, which was great!
The only problem is, I ran out of food. I actually found some food where I stayed, but now there was none.
This is why I’m in an apartments building walking down the stairs and peeking at the double door’s glass window looking for a vending machine. Of course, I have to make sure there are no zombies close by because I’ll have to break it to get the food, won't I? I don’t have any pocket money at the moment. I mean, why would I in a zombie apocalypse?
I reached the 4th floor and sighed when I saw that there was no vending machine. I suppressed the urge to groan as I made my way down to the 3rd floor. I was just about to reach the door and peek, but a loud crash made me stop and stand still and wonder what was going on. Without a warning a girl looking like she was in her mid-twenties burst in and stood there with her hands on her knees panting. She did not notice me, yet.
Before I had time to react another survivor followed after her, and this time it was a guy. He looked like he was in his early to mid-twenties. He wasted no time as he slammed the door shut. He immediately noticed me. “Were you bitten?” he asked. He didn’t narrow his eyes or glare, he just asked.
I opened my mouth to deny being bitten, but before I did the girl looked at the guy and gave a humorless laugh. “Ha. Ha. No I did not, Ryan. You were right behind me.” She panted throwing a full backpack on the ground; her back was facing me, that’s why she didn’t know I was here. She should be more careful if she wanted to survive longer. The guy scowled, he looked like he was about to retort. “No, I haven’t.” I answered before those two end up fighting over a stupid thing and start to actually pay attention.
The girls face whipped to my direction and the surprise was written in her face. But then came the usual reaction of a survivor meeting a survivor. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously. Frankly, I didn’t blame her for being suspicious, it’s a messed up world after all. I held up my hands defensively and backed away slowly. “I’m leaving; I was just looking for food. No need to glare, um, girl.” I said uncertain on what to call her since I did not know her name.
“Head to the roof.” The guy cried running upstairs. We immediately did what he told us to do. Soon the zombies filled the place and started walking up and down the stairs at random directions. They probably sniffed so us they decided to follow. And since I had no choice, I had to follow the other two survivors to survive. We finally reached the last floor and three zombies were there separating us from the door.
Two of them were near the door standing on the flat ground; the other was in the middle of the stairs that leads to the door. All we had to do was run as fast as we could to the roof’s door. Yup, it is all about the door.
We did run, and I was the last one but guess what, I tripped.
