the secret between katniss and peeta ( the hunger games)

chapter 2

"NO! katniss, I wont you need them and anyway how the hell are you going to get to the capitol huh?" says gale  " nurse, we need help!" gale shouts " how could you ? I thought you were my best friend!" I say as I rip the drips and cords from my arm. I grab my pants and slid them on under my hospital gown and start to head for the door, just as I open it I see my mother face for the first time since I have arrived here. "mum" I say she smile at me suddenly gale grabs my arm " what are you doing" I scream at him as I jerk my are out of his hand. our eyes connect he flitches from seeing the anger in my eyes.

I start to run I don't know were to but I run and I ran until a large man stops me in my tracks. " where are you going missy?'" he says with a smile "your our mockingjay we cant  let you get hurt" he employs with a smile next thing I know I am stabbed in the back with a needle by gale. I turn to look at him and my eyes start to get blurry " what the you did that me to for" I slur out as the sedate kicks in within a minute im out like a light.

a siren starts to go off I immediately wake up from the piercing sound that is going through my ears " what is happening?" I ask a near by nurse " calm down it is just a practice evacuation encase  of an attack. the siren lasted for about 20 minutes before a voice appeared on the speakers giving the all clear to going back to our job. that last words I heard over the announcement were "thanking you, president coin" that must be who runs district 13. I have decided that im going to find her and discuss  giving me some equipment to help me on my way to the capitol to go rescue peeta. just as I try to hop out of bed a nurse comes up to me with a paper "its your lucky day katniss! you are being discharged! so just sign here please and your sister will take you to your new room." says the nurse  "ok" I tell her and then start to put my clothes on.

my sister prim walks me to my new room, 3 beds set up in a small apartment, with a bathroom, sink and small fridge filled with water." were do we eat?" I ask prim " we go down to the dinning room" she says "dinning room" I say " yes, we have our meals cooked for us and we eat there when the bell goes for meal time" she implored "aha, ok so prim were can I go to talk to this president coin?" I ask " you have got a meeting with her in an half an hour, now here are some fresh clothes gale will meet you here and take you to her" prim says with a smile  suddenly her pager goes off " I have to go but I will se you at dinner time, gale will show your around the place" she says as she walked off I said " tuck in that tail little duck" she just turned around and smiled at me.

I change out of my clothes from what I was rescued in and change into a grey shirt with a grey skirt "huh, no a skirt I hate these things" suddenly there was a knock at the door my first reaction was to grab a weapon, until it crossed my mind that I was not in the arena, I was I district 13 were I am safe, so to speak. gale opens the door " katniss, katniss are you in here " he says I come slowly out from behind a cupboard in the room "there you are, are you okay?" he said I looked at him with an angry look a pond my face " look im sorry I had to do that to you for your own good" he said he new what I was thinking from the moment I gave im the look. " what were you doing behind that cupboard?" he asked 'I was hiding" I say " from what?" he said "I don't know, I have just been a little jumpy from the hunger games " I explain " do you have a spare pair of pants?" I ask gale he smiled and said come with me.

He took me up to a large room "this must be coins room, isn't it" I ask "yes" he replied " im going to ask for equipment so I can go save peeta" I tell gale   "why? they will not accept your offer you need to stay here and become their mockingjay!" gale says " No, I have to find peeta!" I said "why its not like you love him, it was all an act to save each other! wasn't it ?" gale snaps the whole room went silent. gale lent over and kissed me on the lips, it was only us two in the room "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING" I scream at him "katniss, please" he says " no gale don't you get it I do love peeta and your are just my ..... forget it" I said and ran off crying  

I have been sitting here in my room for an hour now, and still thinking of peeta. "what am I gonna do I don't only have 1 secret but 2! both connected to each other. how can I tell them im pregnant and the stunt peeta pulled on stage to try and stop the games was true! am I now going to be a single mother? do I still have the baby? bad thought come to my mind but I have know if the baby is ok.

my mother walked into the room and gave me a smile. "how are you?" she said "im fine" I said " are you sure?" she asked " yeah I think I need your help!" I said "with what?" she asked "well, I am pregnant!" I say " your what?" she says " well I do love peeta and he wasn't lying when he said about the baby!" I say my mother went silent. by the time she had pulled her self together I had started to say "mum, I need you to test me to see if the baby is ok, please can you help me?", "yes, of coarse!" she said reluctantly "good, thank you mum!" I said as I through my arms around her. "ill meet you at the hospital in 1hr ok" she said . she smiled and walked off.

i decided to go and see gale and see how he was going after the fight we had earlier. i walked over towards the seat he was sitting on and sat down beside him. " are you ok ?" i asked "yeah, im fine" gale mumbles. "look we can stil be friends" i say " No we cant, because i cant stay aroud and watch you with him" gale says agressivly. i sand up and start to walk off " if you want to talk about this nicely ill be with my mother at the hospital" gale looked up at me with a confused look upon his face.

i arrived just in time. my mother called me over and told me to wait in bed 6, she said she would be there in a minute. i walked into the room and sat on the bed not long after my mum walked in and as she shut the door behinde her she said "this has to be off the books if anyone found out about this you wouldnt be the mockingjay anymore!" she pulled the aulta sound computer over and told me to stay still and that the gell would be cold. On the coputer up came a baby. my baby! in fact mine and peeta's baby. this baby is all i have left of peeta beside the pearl of coarse! the baby was fine but my mother was concerned why my belly wasnt getting bigger! i was supposed to be bigger than what i am at 4 months! i guess its a good thing im not showing my pregnacy otherwise we would have a real problem on our hands!. i hopped of the bed and pull my shirt down, i took a deep breath and turned to my mum. "is the baby gonna be ok?" i said with a concerned look apon my face. " so far yes! but if you dont start getting bigger soon we may have a problem!" said my mum.

as i started walking down the hall towards my room hamich approched me "i know ur pregnant" he whispered in my ear "shhh" i said back to him with a suprised look upon my face "come with me we shall talk in my room!" i demanded  hamich and i entered my room and i quickly shut the door
