Chapter 8
Lucca
Red.
All I can see is red.
I just got off of the phone with Santino and he informed me of my father's little visit to Isabella's house and I'm beyond pissed.
When I think of Isabella, a smile immediately takes over my face. I don't know what it is about her that's so addicting and makes me just want to love and protect her. Maybe it's her innocence, or maybe it's her independence. I'm not sure and I don't care. I want her. I want her in every way that I can have her.
My father on the other hand, he has crossed the line. I knew about the deal between Isabella's mom and my dad, but I didn't think that my dad would stoop this low. I have no clue what kind of vendetta he has against Isabella, but I'm going to find out.
I pull in front of my family's house, punching the code into the keypad, and I drive up the pathway and park right in front of the house. I snatch the bag off of the passenger seat and I hop out of the car, marching to front doors with a tight grip on the bag.
"Lucca!" Maceo exclaims happily once I enter the house.
I shoot a glare his way and keep marching to my destination.
"Oh shit." I hear Maceo say under his breath. I feel the twins following me, but I don't have time to waste on them right now.
Once I'm upstairs, I walk straight into my father's office without knocking.
"How may I help you Lucca?" He asks sarcastically.
I glare at him and throw the bag onto his desk.
He looks up at me bemused. "And what is this?"
I glare at him. "You know what it is father, let's not play stupid today."
He leans back in his chair and looks at my in amusement now. "I'm not taking this Lucca. She has to pay me back."
I cross my arms. "She just did. It didn't state anywhere in the contract about how the money is paid back so therefore, here's your money."
He laughs, a good belly laugh at that. "Like I just said, I'm not taking this money."
"And why is that?"
He gets up from his chair and comes and stand in front of me. I can hear the twins shifting from one foot to the other.
"Because I don't have to. Now, tell Isabella that I want my money from her and that's the end of the story."
I ground my teeth together. "What do you have against her?" I yell. "She hasn't done anything to you or any of as matter of fact. Is this some type of fetish for you? Targeting innocent women?"
"Mind your tone." He warns. "She needs to learn her place Lucca. She walks around as if she can do whatever she pleases-"
"She can." I cut him off. "This is America father. We aren't in Italy anymore where people hide in their homes all day. This is an entire different political system over her so technically, she can do whatever the fuck she wants to do."
"Non so chi pensi che stai parlando a, ma è possibile che si desideri guardare quello che si sta dicendo." He's fuming at this point, but I don't care.
"No father, you might want to watch what you're saying. I'm not a little boy anymore. You can't just command me to do something and expect me to do it."
"Is that what you think?" He says menacingly.
"No. That's what I know." I state.
At this point, we're nose to nose. I have a few inches on my father but that doesn't stop him from trying to intimidate me.
