-Party's POV- (yay)

I woke up to a blinding flash. "Oh this is too good to miss." Ghoul's voice laughed, another flashed. I opened my eyes to see him standing with one of those old cameras that print the picture, probably saved from the fires of 2012. "Say cheese." he chimed taking another.

Why was he doing that? Oh yeah, Caitlin had a bad dream and ended up sharing my bed and as usual Ghoul is being stupid about it.

"Shut up, don't wake her up." I whisper-shouted, he held his hands up defensively then started pinning the pictures on the wall. I rolled my eyes, let him have his fun. Slowly I climbed out of my bed, careful not to disturb Caitlin, she looked too peaceful to move. After everything she was going through I could at least let her sleep.

I came out in the main but of the diner to see Jet and Kobra eating some cans of power-up, it tasted like dog food but that's all we could get because that's what the people in Battery City ate. I sat down and grabbed one.

"Mornin' bro." Kobra said smiling at me.

"Mornin'. So what we doing today?" I asked Jet, he looked up from his can of food.

"We've had no word from Dr. D so just scoping the Zones, I guess." He told me, I nodded. That was strange, it had been a few days so we normally had new missions by now...hhmmm. Suddenly I heard Caitlin shouting something.

Ghoul came in with a surprised look on his face, "Well, she is not a morning person." He stated, I smirked at him.

"I told you not to wake her up." I said, he turned to the booth we were sitting in then decided to sit on me even though there was a free seat by me. Ghoul will be Ghoul.

"No, I mean I've seen poeple get grumpy but she was all out rage." He said seriously, "Just like Stat." He said sadly, don't get me wrong we like Caitlin, but she's not Static. When Static was taken everyone seemed to take the blow, but I realized after she was gone just how much I loved her.

"I keep seeing little bits of her in Caitlin, it's fucking killing me." I said bashing my head on the table, which was hard considering Ghoul was in the way.

"Yeah." Kobra said looking at the table.

"She's just not our Static." Ghoul said, I heard the floor boards creek in the hall.

I looked round at the door and saw a retreating body, oh shit Caitlin! "nnnoooo... Caitlin we didn't mean it like that!" I shouted shoving Ghoul off me and running to the door but she'd already gone into her room and closed the door. I knocked on lightly, "Caitlin?" I said softly. I got no answer. "Caitlin, open up."

I was well aware the was no lock on the door, but I could here something scraping along the floor and I knew she'd put a peice of furiture behind the door. "Caitlin, I'm coming in." I warned gripping the door handle.

"No, you're not." She snorted, okay so this was angry Caitlin...this is all very new to me.

"Yeah I am." I said.

"Go ahead take your best shot." She said cockily, I took a breath and rammed the door with me shoulder, I hit it with all the force I had but I would not budge!

I sighed and sat down behind the door, after a while of listening to silence I heard scraping, What was she doing? I looked under the door to see me her bare feet at the far end of the room. I sat up again, I'm not even gonna ask.

After a while the noise stopped so I looked under the door again, I couldn't see her feet! Then the realisation hit me, she'd gone out the window!

"What's wrong with you?" Kobra asked, as I ran through the main part of the diner, I skidded to a halt. Literally.

"Caitlin, she's gone out the window after she barricaded herself in her room." I said quickly, Ghoul sat up straighter becoming more interested in the conversation.

"You think she would run away?" He scoffed, I looked at him, he had been in a permeant mode since this morning.

"maybe, after everything she's been through maybe we pushed her over the edge." I said, shrugging my shoulders, wow I sounded like a paranoid parent. I told myself that it was just because she was basically Static but...

"Party, she's a marshmallow, she wouldn't dare." Ghoul insisted, I was about to open my mouth to say something back when:

"Can you hear that?" Jet asked looking at the ceiling, we all shut up and listened, there were footsteps on the roof. Too light to be a Scarecrow or a Drac and Korse would never come out here alone. which left me with Pigeon or Caitlin.

I went out side and easily climbed on the roof, it's a skill every Killjoy should have. And there was Caitlin wandering around the roof, bare foot in broad daylight in the middle of the desert. She hadn't noticed me so I crept up behind her.

"What are you doing?" I asked her, she turned around and jumped. Too easy.

"What are you doing?" She asked me.

"I asked first." I said to her, she smiled at me but didn't answer. Caitlin sat down and patted the space in front of her.

I sat and looked at her as she stared at the ground, "I know, that I can't be her and the sooner she's back the better or whatever, just stop treating me like I'm hurt all the time, I know what you guys are saying, the walls aren't that thick and I'm fine so yeah." she said, I felt sort of ashamed because I knew she was tight but also I knew that Caitlin was no 'fine', it was clear as day.

"you talk like your different people." I joked awkwardly, not knowing how to respond.

"yeah, well I guess we are."She said looking at me "eeuughh, I'm so messed up, Party." She groaned rolling around on her stomach.

"yep." I agreed, she looked at me then hit my arm. "whaaaattt?" I whined, rubbing where she hit pretending it had hurt.

"you're supposed to make me feel better about myself." She said.

"okay, then no of course not!" I laughed trying to act like it meant it, she grinned.

"now you're just plain lying." she said sarcastically, I rolled my eyes and flopped down next to her, the midday sun was in my eyes so I used my hand to shield my face.

"Caitlin, tell me the truth, are you really okay?" I asked turning serious again.

"Truthfully no. I'm think I'm going mental if I haven't already, all my very short amount of memories are of a girl who look like me but don't feel like me, I have a her nattering away in my head all the time and all of my friends want me to be the me I don't know how to get to." She said, Static is talking to her in her head?

"what's she saying?" I asked, I know I'm supposed to be comforting Caitlin but I couldn't help myself.

"Complaining that I just told you, she wanted to freak you guys out or something." she laughed, I couldn't help but smile that sounded like my Static alright.

We lay for another hour laughing and talking in the hot sun, no doubt getting horribly sun burned. Until suddenly, we heard a cad engine.

Our laughter was cut short and I riled over to look for its origin. Caitlin stayed still and scrunched her eyes up, scared. I took her hand and squeezed it as reassurance, then looking at the nearing car I realised I knew it.

it pulled up outside the diner and a familiar figure got out.

"Dr Death Defy." I whispered to my self.

Question was: why was he here?
