"Bye Sweetheart" Ari's mom mumbled as she was holding back tears. "Bye runt" her sisters said at the same time, clearly planned. As they walked out of the room, her dad turned to her at the door "Remember what I said" he said in all seriousness. "I'll never forget Dad. Thank you all for coming & helping me get settled. I'll call ya, love ya, buh-bye" she said to her family as she closed the door. As she plopped on the bed, she looked at the empty one across from her. I wonder who my roommate is. I hope she's into the same stuff I am. More importantly, I hope we get along. Its going to totally suck if we end up hating each other. The sound of the door opening snapped Ari out of her thoughts. Entering the room was a short white girl. She had beautiful green eyes & the most gorgeous, long, flowing blond hair. "Hi, I'm Brittany" she said in a high pitched, enthusiastic voice. Oh dear God Ari thought to herself. Ari hopped off the bed. "Nice to meet you Brittany. I'm Ariel but everyone calls me Ari" she said as she shook her hand. "Ari, huh? That's a really pretty name" Brittany said. "Thank you" she replied. Ari looked down to see that she only had a suitcase, a duffle bag, & a book bag. "Um... Is this all you have with you?" she asked. Brittany looked up from her cell phone. "Oh God no. This is just what I could carry. My brother & mom are bringing the rest," she said chuckling. Ari's eyes got wide How much does she expect to fit in a dorm? She asked herself. As if she read Ari's mind, Brittany quickly added "Don't worry. Its not a lot. Its just my trunk, a box & a bag" she said looking back at her phone. "Well, I can help you unpack, if you want" Ari offered. "I would love that. Thank you" she smiled as she put her phone in her back pocket. After her mom, Jessica, & brother, Brandon, came up with the rest of Brittany's things, Ari decided to give them some privacy. She figured, she'll be gone for almost three months. It must be hard. After Ari came back from wherever it was she went, she saw Brittany's family walking onto the elevator. She knocked on the door as she opened it "Britt, its me" Ari called out. "Hey, where'd you go?" she asked. "I don't even know to be honest but I was lost for like 10 minutes" they both laughed at that. "Oh! We should go to the office & get our schedules. They have this fair where returning students show the new kids the ropes & where their classes are. Go with me?" Brittany asked with pleading eyes. "Sure. Lets go" Ari replied, grabbing her purse.
