My Girl

CHAPTER 8

Lee Dong Wook had just ended his call with Ji Hyo. He knows he don't have any right to get angry, but he can't help himself whenever he imagined her sleeping at Kwang Soo's place.

He remembered meeting her during gradeschool. She was always with a tall lanky kid wherever she goes.

He was alone on the playground then, eating his lunch quietly since he didn't know anyone yet. A lot of his classmates are rich and looks spoiled. He is not poor but not filthy rich either. He likes eating alone because some kids bully him. He is not into fighting but he stood up for himself when he had to. So he just tried to avoid getting into fights by keeping to himself.

He saw her walking alone then sat at the grass few feet from him. She was eating an apple with a faraway look on her face. It took her a moment to realized that someone else was there. He felt nervous when she caught him looking at her. When he thought she would get mad at him, instead she smiled brightly and approached him.

"Hello, I'm Song Ji Hyo. You are Lee Dong Wook right? I am your classmate although I'm not sure if you knew." She was small and cute, with a rather extrovert personality.

"Of course I know you. You were always with that tall boy who sit beside you in class." He often see her but she never once look at him so he was surprise that she knew his name.

"Oh Kwang Soo, yeah he is my best friend. He is being difficult at the moment so I left him with the others." She said nonchalantly while biting her apple.

They talked happily and shared each others snacks. He was surprised again for they actually get along really well. She was not snobby at all like all the other little girls said behind her back. She's funny and witty at the same time. At such a young age, he knows he was smitten.

"Yaa Ji Hyo what are you doing here? And who's he?" Ji Hyo's lanky friend said. He immediately felt a sudden dislike to this tall boy.

"Don't bother me Kwang Soo, I'm with my friend Dong Wook. He is our classmate if you must know. Why are you following me here. Go bother someone else." Ji Hyo answered angrily.

"Who cares if he's our classmate. What do you mean friends? You just talked to him now so you can't be friends with him already." He fired back then look at him treatheningly.

"And you, stop talking to her okay. I am his best friend, the only best friend so don't ever talk to her again. Arasso?"

As much as he wanted to punch his stupid face, he held himself knowing he is Ji Hyo's friend and he doesn't want to jeoperdize his budding friendship with her.

"Yaa Kwang Soo, you have no right to say that to anyone especially to my friend. You know I hate bullies and don't you dare tell me what or not to do if you know what's good for you." Before it ended into a fight, he excuse himself to them and told Ji Hyo he'll see her in class.

He could hear Kwang Soo's pleading for forgiveness as he was walking away. And that day started their close friendship that he treasured so much.

He knows he can never be as close to her as she is to Kwang Soo but he's happy that he is closer to her than anyone else even to the other boys in her group which is the Running Man. That is so much more than enough for him.

He felt agitated again for some unknown reasons after talking with her on the phone. She sounds breathless and excited at the same time. She said she's with someone and she'll just talk to him in school. 

He decided to call Seolhyun. She was the only one who knows his feelings for Ji Hyo. He was shocked how she had guessed it but she told him he was so obvious only a blind man couldn't see. And fortunately, Ji Hyo seems really blind to his feelings for her.

"Yeoboseyo." He could hear her yawning on the other line.

"Don't tell me you just wake up? Omo Seolhyun, what time is it already." He playfully scolds her.

"Yaa Dong Wook, you actually woke me up. Why are you calling so early on a Saturday? I like sleeping til noon when we don't have class you know. " She said irritatedly. He just laugh at her knowing how she hates being disturb when sleeping.

"It's about Ji Hyo." He honestly told her.

"What the??? You woke me up in a middle of my dream with Gary just to tell me about Ji Hyo?" She was shouting angrily at him that he held the phone away for awhile before bringing it back to his ears when she stops.

"Hey, you are my only trusted friend beside her so it's only natural to tell you what I can't actually tell her." He replied defensively. She should have been more supportive of him.

"Just tell her you like her for God's sake and then when she rejects you, at least you can move on with your life already. You can't just whine about her all the time."

"What do you mean she'll reject me? You don't know that for sure. How could you say something like that to your friend?" He was hurt by her assumptions. She didn't say anything for a while, probably calming herself before answering him.

"Mianhae Dong Wook, it's just that you are frustrating me so much. You know I support you with Ji Hyo but you can't just stay silent forever and be on the friendzone all your life. You will never know unless you tell her. Just think about it okay. I'm not telling you to just blurt it out to her at once. Just find the perfect timing and confess to her once and for all."

He is still in a deep thought hours after his talked with Seolhyun. He is conflicted with his feelings not wanting to ruin his friendship with Ji Hyo and yet wanting to be more than her friend.

"I'll just content myself to be your friend Ji Hyo... for now." He told himself. The right timing for everything will come but now is not the time. He patiently endured it for 11years, what is a little more years to add. He will not waste his decade long friendship with her just for a moment of  hastiness. He will wait for her to fall for him and he will make sure that he will be there to catch her.

"I can't risk our closeness Ji Hyo. I'll endure this. I'll keep my feelings for you buried until it's time."

I am really having a hard time publishing the chapters here in wattpad. I usually write a bit only on my spare time. And published it when finished only to find out that the publish chapters are the unedited/ unfinished version. I don't know why this keeps on happening. So i tried to unpublished then publish it again and again. So sorry everyone.

Anyway I hope you like the story so far. No definite partner for Ji Hyo for now coz I am still torn. Thanks for reading and hope to hear you comments.
