Chapter 9

Katie's POV

3 days later

Ever since I told Christian I just wanted to be friends, he's been avoiding me. It's really bugging me because I love him as a friend.

This Sunday I will be on the xtra factor as they will be airing my eyes first audition, which is in the first episode of X factor 2016.

Then on Monday I go to judges houses.

I decided to try and FaceTime Christian to see if he will finally talk to me.

After a few rings we connected but it wasn't him on the screen, it was his younger sister, Georgia.

"Oh, hi Georgia. Is Christian there?" I asked. The phone got snatched out of her hands and Christians face appeared. Before I could speak, he cut me off.

"Katie, I can't talk right now. Bye" he said then ended the FaceTime. I sighed and threw myself on my bed.

I felt so bad.

I just wanted to cry.

I decided to call the one person I knew would listen to me.

After a couple of rings he finally answered.

"Hi, what's up?" Roman asked through the phone.

"Where are you?" I asked holding back tears.

"I'm at the capital fm studios at the moment, why?" He asked.

"Oh, umm, never mind then. Just text me later..." I trailed off.

"No come on what's wrong?" He asked with concern.

"It doesn't matter, you're busy" I told him.

"Well actually..I've still got a couple of hours until I'm needed. If you can come down, we can go out for lunch?" He asked/offered.

"Umm, yea...I'll be there in an hour" I told him.

After train journey

To Roman- hey I'm outside X

I waited outside for him patiently and after a few minutes he came with a huge smile on his face. He pulled me into a tight hug and when we let go I kept my gaze on the floor trying to fight back tears.

He must have noticed because he lifted my chin up with his fingers.

"Hey...what's wrong?" He asked worried. I looked around me and back at Roman.

"It's a long story" I told him.

"Come on, we'll get something to eat and you can tell me there" he said locking his hand with mine and walking to a cafe around the corner.

After we got seated and ordered our food I decided to tell him everything.

"Okay...I don't know how you're gonna take this. At my very first audition I met Christian...we got on really well and stayed in touch. We ended up liking each other but he also had something with Caitlyn. So that's when I had my date with sonny, then I met you...you made everything so much harder. You seemed like the first person who cared...the first person who understood me as a person but you hardly know anything about me. That doesn't bother me, but Christian asked me to chose between you two. I told him I loved you and not him. Now he hates me and I just wanted to be friends with him" I told him. He stayed silent for a moment.

"you love me?" He smirked. I laughed.

"Did you not listen to anything else?" I asked.

"No I did....about the part where you said I don't know you well enough, I'm gonna make sure I get to know everything about you." He told me. I laughed.

"Good to know" i replied.

"Also with Christian, don't worry about him. He'll come around" he assured me.

"Thanks Roman" I smiled.

"No problem...now, tell about yourself" he said making me smile.

"What do you want to know?" I asked.

"Full name, birthday, do you like animals...stuff like that" he said.

"Well...my full name is Katie Elizabeth Grier, my birthday is December 29th 1997, I love animals. I have an older brother, a twin brother, a younger brother and half little sister. I was originally born in America so my passport says that" I said with a laugh.

"I was born In America too! So you're 18? Do you live with your siblings?" He asked.

"Yea, I know your 23...and no..they're back in America with my mum" I told him. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"My mum and dad got divorced when I was 7, my mum cheated on my dad" I explained.

"Oh, I'm so sorry" he said sympathetically.

"No it's fine" I nervously chuckled.

"How old was you when you started singing?" He asked.

"I was about...4" I said thinking about it.

After lunch, back at capital fm.

We were walking down a corridor at the capital fm studios hand in hand when I decided to speak up.

"It's already 4pm, I should be heading back home.." I said.

"How did you get here?" He asked.

"I took the train" I stated.

"Well when's your train?"

"4:35" I told him.

"No I'm not letting you go. You're train journey takes over an hour and it will start getting dark. You can wait here with me whilst I do some work then I'll drive you home" he told me.

"But it's gonna take a while so I'll be getting home late and that makes you later" I said worrying.

"Then stay at mine for the night" he said.

"I don't know..." I said.

"You stayed in my hotel room" he chuckled. I laughed with him and nodded my head.

"Fine. I'll text my dad in a bit" I said as we walked into a room with a camera crew and all that crap.

Later on

Roman started interviewing Zara Larson, who was stunning. She looked like she was enjoying his company and he did as well. Maybe I'm over reacting...why am I jealous? It's not like we're together. Are we?

I stood behind producer joe as they continued the interview.

When they came off air they took a couple of selfies together and started having a laugh. I felt really out of place so I decided to leave the room. I leaned sideways on the wall and took a deep breathe but heard the door to that room open again. Whoever it was stood behind me, but after a couple of seconds they slid their arms around my waist, resting their head on my shoulder. I immediately knew it was Roman.

I turned around to face him but he kept his arms where they were.

"Everything okay?" He asked.

"Yea I just felt a little sick" I lied. He gave me the I don't believe you face.

"Fine. I saw the way you and Zara were and I go a little jealous" I told him keeping my eyes on the floor. He started laughing.

"What?" I asked.

"She's just a friend, Katie." He said. I didn't do anything.

"Hey, I forgot to say this earlier but...I-I love you too" he told me. My eyes popped out of my head.

"Seriously?" I asked. He nodded.

"Seriously, but we have to keep it quiet" he told me. I nodded.

"So Katie, will you be my secret girlfriend?" He asked making me laugh.

"Yes" I said with a smile. He pulled me closer to him and gently kissed my lips.

I love this boy.
