Chapter 36

Katie's POV

Same day

The wedding finished and now it's the after party. It's now 7:00p.

I arrived at the ballroom where the party was and many tables were neatly set up and there was also a mini stage with a DJ set. To top it all off there was a big dance floor.
I walked inside and pushed through a bunch of people until I reached Nash.

"You alright?" I asked.

"Yea, you?" He replied. I nodded. I looked to my right and saw Roman talking to his sister. I said bye to Nash as I made my way over. I stood behind him and awkwardly coughed. He turned around and his eyes kind of grew wide a little. His sister excused herself as Roman spoke up first.

"Didn't think you would talk to me" he said.

"No I would of. Didn't know your dad was close to my dad" I chuckled. He chuckled too.

"Not gonna lie, neither did I. All I got told is I was attending a wedding today. As soon as I saw your dad I knew you would be here." He said.

"You're looking rather smart in your suit" I complimented. He smirked and done a hair flip as a joke then placed his hands on his suit being cocky.

"I do pull it off" he said but burst into laughter with me.

"Nah, but you look stunning tonight" he told me. I smiled and felt a tiny blush arise on my cheeks.

"Thank you" I smiled. I suddenly felt a presence behind me.

"I see you two reunited" my dad said. We nodded.

"Congratulations Chad" Roman smiled.

"Thanks Roman" dad replied.

"Katie this is Romans dad mar-"

"We've met before" I interrupted him. Martin slightly smiled at me.

"Good to see you again Katie" he told me.

I know he didn't like me but I'm choosing to put that behind me.

We ended up having to sit at our tables and everyone had a piece of paper with their name on where they needed to be sat.

My table ended up being with dad, Nala, Martin, Shirlie (Romans mum), will, Jeanne and Roman. All couples except Roman and I. The table was round. On my right was my dad, then Nala, Will, Jeanne, Roman, Shirlie then Martin.

We ate dinner as everyone spoke. I got really bored and looked over at Roman seeing he was on his phone. I smirked as I saw a straw in front of me. I ripped a piece of tissue of the napkin and squished it into the end of the straw. I put the straw to my mouth and blew inside of it causing the piece of tissue to fly out and hit Roman on the forehead. He jumped and looked up as I laughed.

He glared at me and blew a spit ball back.

We ended up messing about for a bit and pretty much annoying the people on our table.

"They're perfect for each other" I heard Nala say to my dad. My laughing suddenly stopped as I looked at her, unsure of my emotion.

"I'll be back in a moment" I whispered standing up.

"Katie" Roman said. I ignored him and walked to the ladies.

I touched up my make up but seconds later Nala walked in looking worried.

"Everything okay?" She asked.

"Just fine" I replied.

"Look, I know we never started off great but I genuinely want to get along now. Your my step daughter now, think of me as a mum. You can tell me if something is wrong" she said gently.

"You're not my mum! You can never be my mum!" I snapped.

"Katie...your mum hardly talks to you anymore, she doesn't believe in you. I'm not saying that I should be your mum or anything like that but I want you to feel as if you can open up to me like you would to a mum" he told me. I hugged her.

"I'm sorry. I'm frustrated. Things are complicated between Matt and I as he got out of a three year relationship and doesn't know if he wants another one so its almost as if he's leading me on and then every time I see Roman I get flashbacks of the memories we've had." I told her.

"It's going to be okay. This is what I think, you loved Roman and you still do. And of course you love Matt and being around him for so long makes you forget about Roman so that's why every time you so him the memories come flooding back. You're torn between the two...it's okay. The universe always sends a signal, you're just awaiting on that signal. Don't worry, it will come soon" she winked.

I thanked Nala and we walked out of the ladies and back to our table. Everyone chatted amongst themselves as I sat silently, overthinking way too much. Gradually people went up to the dance floor and it ended up just being Roman and I on our table. We sat silently.

Suddenly a slow song came on and I mental,y slapped the DJ. Roman stood up and held his hand out to me. I looked at him. I placed my hand in his and he helped me up. We walked hand in hand to the dance floor. He gently placed his hands on my hips as my arms wrapped around his neck. We swayed to the music.

"What's going on Katie?" He asked gently.

"Things are tough. I'm getting stressed with the X factor, Matt and I are complicated, you...things are just hard at the moment" I sighed as we swayed.

"Me?" He asked.

"Every time I see you, flashbacks come back of the good memories we had together" I told him.

"What about Matt?" He asked.

"He feels as if he doesn't want a relationship at the moment so he's basically been playing. But I overheard him tell freddy that he might also start having feelings for Lauren from four of diamonds" I said.

"Look Katie, you know how I feel about you...those feelings haven't changed and they're not going to any time soon. But I don't want you feeling pressured. You'll do the right thing, I know you will. Everything happens for a reason." He told me. I slightly smiled and rested my head on his shoulder as we continued to sway to the music.

That replayed in my head as I thought...matts ex girlfriend coming back. Lauren. Roman constantly popping into my mind, Roman constantly turning up at random places. It all happens for a reason. I just need to figure out the reasons and the meanings to them.

Maybe that can help my decision.

A/N: so many of you are Katt shippers, I'm both Katt and Koman. Many of you r saying not bring Roman back into this but believe me I've got some ideas which really work. Please don't hate me but it is my story and I hope you all respect that, I want this book to be amazing yet dramatic and I have some really great ideas to make that happen.
