~ Chapter One - Playdates and Surprises ~
Beep! Beep!! BEEP!!!
The loudening sound of my alarm going off woke me with a start. I sat up and leaned over, whacking the top of it to shut it off like most people do in those shitty movies.
I sighed and got up, realizing it was Friday. It was the last day of the week, and then we had a three day weekend, since Monday was a grading period day.
I threw my legs over the edge of my bed, looking at the picture of me and my daughter on the dresser across the room.
Thinking of my daughter, I had to get her up.
I padded across the white carpeted floor of my bedroom and to my dresser, looking at myself in the mirror hung on the wall over the dresser.
My long black hair was an obvious mess, the knots in it obvious. I had massive bedhead problems, since my hair was so long and it was usually messy anyway.
I heard feet pattering down the hall and then my daughter, Hailey, appeared in my door.
“Mommy! Its time to get ready!” She looked up at me.
My Daughter, Hailey, was eight. She was really smart, and really weird all at once.
“I know Sweetheart, go get some cereal while I go brush my teeth, and then we’ll pick you out an outfit together mkay?” I couldn’t help but smile at how her face lit up when she heard me say I would help her pick out an outfit.
“Okaii!!” And with that, she ran off.
I shook my head, smiling, and brushed my messy bedhead to its usual normal wavy mess. I had on my ex-boyfriends jacket that I had stolen a while ago, and underwear.
I always slept in his jacket. It was warm, and cozy, and even though I despised him for what he did to me and Hailey, I still felt safe in his cloths. It was almost as if I hadn’t quite let go of him yet, but that I didn’t want to have him around me.
I sighed slightly and headed out into the hall. I walked downstairs and to where Hailey had been sat at the table, eating cereal and watching Cartoon network. Just like every morning.
“Sweetie, I’m gonna go get ready to take you to school, Okay?” I asked her, smiling slightly at her adorable little face.
“Okiieee!” She smiled at me, her mouth full of multicolored O’s from her fruit loops.
I let a grin nearly break my face as a few of the mushed up cereal bits fell out of her mouth and onto the table.
