I get tired too easily for my own good. Way too tired. I find myself walking around half asleep at work and looking forward to weekends because I can sleep. I regret agreeing to spend my weekend with my friend and partner in crime Dark. No, it's not because I don't want to be around him, it's because I'm so dead tired.I don't want to be a drag.
I dragged myself through my front door, kicking my shoes off. I pet my cat and tiredly walked into the bathroom. I barely had the energy to shower, but showering isn't a suggestion, it's mandatory. I turned the hot water on and felt like drifting to sleep under the warmth of the water. I yawned, filling my mouth with nasty LA water. I shook my head. I really needed to stop staying up all night and get some sleep. I dragged my shower on as much as I could, not wanting to leave the warm water, but I had no choice. Water isn't cheap and hot water doesn't last forever, especially in my building. I stepped into the cold air, shivering. I wrapped my towel around myself and started searching for some lounge clothes. I pulled my favorite hoodie out and found my baggiest pair of sweats. Total comfort. I didn't care about my appearance around Dark. He said there was no way that he could ever find me ugly. I put my long hair into a messy ponytail, leaving the front of it out. I found my favorite pair of fuzzy slippers and put them on. I was too tired to even tie my damn shoes. I strolled lazily to my car and made the trip across town, dead tired. I knocked on Dark's door, my head hung slightly from sleepiness. He answered the door and gave me a subtle little smirk. "You look energetic." he said. I looked up at him. "I am beat." I said. Much to my surprise, Dark scooped me up into his strong arms. I'd never been picked up before, especially bridal style. "Come on, item number one on the weekend to-do list is taking a nap." I was overjoyed to hear that. "Really? You'll let me sleep." "If I can join." he said, flatly. "Fine with me as long as I get to knock out for a few. I could use it." Dark looked me straight in my eyes. "Your eyes tell me more than anything. You look dead. More dead than I do." I laughed. "You don't look dead. Just pale. But I will say the dark circles around your eyes have nothing on mine." He snickered. "Easy now, I get more compliments on those rings than I do on my 'cool contacts' you know." We both laughed. He dropped me onto his bed and I bounced a bit. "God...I'm so comfy." I said, looking over at the clock. It wasn't late by any means, but it felt like it was the middle of the night. I kicked my slippers off and got under the blankets. "You don't have to stay far away, hon." I said, noticing that Dark was keeping his distance. "Let me guess, you like being cuddled?" I smiled a bit sheepishly. "What woman doesn't? Come on, hold me." Dark crawled under the blankets with me. He embraced me. "You are so fucking cold." I said, shivering. "I know, just hang tight for a minute. You'll get me all warm." I embraced him back and soon enough we were both warm. I could barely keep my eyes open. "Are you comfortable?" Dark asked me, nuzzling me a bit. I yawned. "Yeah, I'm all cozy...I just have a hard time sleeping anymore. I'm so tired I could easily sleep for a month, but sleep doesn't find me like it used to." Dark looked concerned. "Let me try something." he maneuvered himself around until we were eye to eye. "Stare at me for a minute." I stared into his eyes. They looked like they usually did. Bright silver irises, black pupils. Nothing to write home about. "Keep staring." he said. I tried focusing on their color but had trouble. The effort I was putting into trying to focus made me sleepier than I'd felt in awhile. "You're getting tired, aren't you?" he asked. I didn't have the energy to give him anything other than a single nod. "Keep staring...almost." My eyelids felt like they were a thousand pounds. The more I focused on his piercing eyes, the more tired I felt. "What is happening?" I asked, groggily. "Nothing. My eyes are bright...they're easy to focus on. You're making yourself tired." He was right, I sure was. I looked deeper and deeper into his eyes until mine closed. I heard him shuffle around then felt two arms wrap around me. "Night (y/n)." he said softly, taking a protective grip to my body.
