"Raina!" She felt her body be pushed to the side abruptly.
"Rainaaaaaa!!! Get up! You'll be late!" Caden pulled at the older girls arm. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the time, "fu-dge sticks!"
Raina glanced next to her, realizing she nearly dropped the f bomb in front of her little brother. She quickly grabbed a long sleeve top with leggings from her closet. She pulled the hood from her shirt over her head. Caden had left before she could get undressed. She forgot to check that the door was closed. Raina rushed to shut the door and lock it. Pulling her leggings on she applied make up and put stuff in her bag.
"Raina?" Avery knocked at her door. She replied with just a minute before rushing to the door.
"Raina let me brush your hair. It'll be done quicker as you apply cosmetics." Her foster mom motioned for her to sit down in front of her.
"What's wrong?" Raina looked at Avery's face. The lines in her forehead made her worrying prominent.
"Nothing hon' I've just been thinking about you. And how you've had a lot on your plate. But I want you to consider staying with us 'till you're 18." Avery stopped brushing Raina's long beautiful hair.
"Do you mean adopting me?" Raina turned to her foster mother and feeling a surge of joy, that was shortly crushed realizing that everything would change. That Thomas and her would be her parents and that they would have complete control over her.
"I don't know." She started to knot her hair again making all of Avery's work.
"Please consider it. I want to adopt you only if, you want to stay here." Avery made her way to the door, " consider it please, if you're worried about Thomas don't be. He has no control over my decision  on adopting you." She left the room without another word. Raina grabbed her notebook and wrote the words:
"Who would have thought?"
------
Chemistry class was the same. Annoying boy, to many notes, that kid staring again.
Raina shook of the shy revere she was always had and built enough courage to walk over to him.
"Hi, I'm Raina. What's your name since I should know the name of my stalker." She extended her hand and felt everyone stare at her.
"Who do you think is stalking you?" Some annoying blonde She believe named Kayli interrupted, the beautiful boy from speaking.
"Sorry I don't believe I was speaking to you." Raina looked at the blonde flake. "I was speaking to him."
Raina put her hands on her hips with this mock fierceness that must have worked because the girl shrunk away.
"Well my name is Calum. I've liked next to the Frames all my life. I was intrigued that my neighbors took you in. Since well you are ,well, you." He motioned to her body. Revealing a Native American tattoo on his bicep. Raina burst out laughing.
"Sure sweetie you have a tattoo as well. I wouldn't talk much, and i have a reason for mine you don't." She huffed walking away, she felt her whole body tingle. Damnit she thought the whole class stared in aw at her and she couldn't figure out why.
"You know that's Calum right?!" The annoying kid piped in next to her. She laughed once again causing the whole class to tense.
"Yes I know his name. Honey." She went to take. Notes as he continued.
"No I mean that's Calum. Captain of the soccer team, dark past. You know Calum." He kept whispering the kids name. Raina got annoyed with him and told him to shut up and work while she took notes.
'Who would have thought?' Raina kept thinking of the phrase. Not realizing that every time she thought about it she felt queasy like the words were filthy. She walked out of the school holding her bag and feeling a hot sun. It was supposed to be only 55 degrees outside and she felt like it was 76. She looked at the time on her phone. It was a little early for her to call Avery school was out for the next 15 minutes and Avery was working. She felt her guilty but she had to call Avery to explain why she left  early.
Ring*
She hoped that she wouldn't pick up.
Ring*
That's a good sign right? Raina thought to herself.
Rin-*
"Raina you're calling early what's up?" Avery clicked a pen on he other end signaling she was in the middle of work.
"Well you see I'm done for the day and I was going to walk home." Raina pulled in the strings of her grey hoodie feeling the comfort spring to life.
"Raina I'm coming stay there I'll b there in 2." Avery hung up and Raina stood there in the blazing sun.
'Who would have thought, I was going to be adopted by one of my foster families? Not me' the words manifested in her mind like a cloud of smoke and bombs.
