School Blows

"Raina can you clean the table?" Avery pops her head into, Raina's bedroom. Raina had just gotten done crying from the events that had replayed in her mind. She nodded pulling the hoodie over her t-shirt. She knew how much Thomas didn't like the tattoos. She wanted to hide them just in case he had one of his lectures.
"Raina! Can we play video games after dinner?" Caden asked holding on to her tiny hand. She was delicate to him, he wanted to show her all the things she deserved the poor 13 year old didn't know how to show her he accepted her.
"Yeah of course bud, help me set the table?" Raina looked down at the smaller boy, her foster brother was like her world. She would do anything for him.
"Cool! Do you want to play c.o.d 3?" She smiled and nodded. Caden knew that was her favorite game. She enjoyed killing off the zombies as they attacked her, it gave her a sense of confidence.
"Caden!-" Avery steps into the room, noticing her son. " Oh I didn't know you were helping I'll leave you two be then." she smiled and walked out of the room.

"Raina how was school today?" Thomas passed her the peas.
"It was alright. I was stared at the whole time in Chem." She looked at her food playing with it a little before taking a bite she didn't want to tell him much about her day. She was mostly worried that he'd blow up on something she did or didn't do.
"Who stared at you?" He set his drink down seeming very calm.
"I don't know. He's got messy brown hair and brown eyes looks like he could be Asian." Raina bit her lip feeling a little racist.
(Only few will get the Asian reference. If you look at the cast in description you'lol understand.)
"I see, he didn't make any vulgar gestures did he?" Thomas tensed as Avery bluntly asked the question. Raina shook her head vigorously.
"No, no, he just watched me. That's all." She wiped her mouth on her sleeve causing Thomas to cringe at her. She bowed her head slightly knowing he probably was cursing to her in his mind.
"Good, I'm glad. You are a pretty girl Raina and I just want to make sure no one is harassing you." Avery placed her hand on Raina's in a motherly gesture. She appreciated Avery's support but, still felt extremely awkward.
Recoiling from Avery unintentionally Raina slipped from the room. Mumbling about going to the bathroom. Caden followed suit and rushed to her side. He always was a little brother to her no matter what. She became attached and wanted nothing more than to make sure he was happy.
"Raina! Caden! Get back here and take care of your plates!" Thomas bellowed. Caden giggled as Raina slipped into the bathroom. She knew he would follow laughing on the way in they say there filling the tub with water. They would jump in fully clothed and laugh about how Thomas would be furious when he found them.
This time was different though she felt the need to comfort him like something was wrong.
"Caden are you okay. You seem off." She whispered he only nodded scratching the back of his neck.
"Just the bullies again nothing new." Caden pulled at his draw string on his hoodie. She clenched her fists. She was going to kick some major ass if any of them laid a finger on him.
She motioned for him to join her in the warm water. They say facing each other she wanted to look into his eyes but, he wouldn't look at her.
"Caden your not telling me something." She whispered and he almost cried. She wrapped him in her arms and held him for a while. He whimpered as she cuddle him to her. She felt the urge to squeeze him but, he was in such a fragile state she didn't know if that would make it worse.
"Raina how do you know if your gay?" He whispered into her collar as he lay on top of her in the tub. Raina thought for a moment letting his words sink in.
"I don't know to be honest. I guess you can say when you start having feelings for guys. I guess. And you find kissing or you know that with girls is repulsive." She rubbed his arm trying to comfort him.
"Why do you ask sweetie?" She looked at his face knowing fully well that he was going to say the bullies called him that.
"I think I'm gay and I'm afraid to tell dad." His eyes watered up, they both knew Thomas was one for by the book.
"Hun' you don't know if you are or not. Plus you are only 13. You can't just assume that your gay when you barely know who you are yet." She chuckled at him making him smile.
"Even if you were I would accept you. So would mum." She squeezed his shoulder and got up letting the water drain off her body. She took her sopping sweater off and put it in the sink letting her tattoos show.
"You never told me why you got those tattoos." Caden traced the patterns of music notes and dragons up her arm.
"Well you know how I was in an accident right?" She looked at the wall.
"Yeah, I remember the day we picked you up." Caden looked at her drawn face memorizing the details of her sorrow.
"Well I had scars and damaged tissue. They had done some skin graphing. They gave me an option since I was already unstable if I wanted tattoos. I said yes and here we are. You can still see some scars through it." Raina raised her arm to show the big scar on the back of her arm.
"Cool. But you only have them in patches it's not a full sleeve." She laughed quietly to herself. He didn't know that's where he was going to put his name.
"Oh angel, that's special spots to write names of my loved ones in." She smiled down at him.
"Who's going there?" He pointed at my shoulder. Where my black tank top just showed where it was blank.
"That's where my mom's going she's dying soon so I want to put her close to my heart." She whispered and felt him hug her waist.
"I'm sorry Raina. We can share my mum." He said into the wet fabric of her tank top.
"Thank you honey." She smiled into his quiffed hair.
"Raina, Caden? You in there?" Avery knocked on the door.
"Yeah." Raina replied. She got out of the tub soaking the floor as she unlocked the door. Avery walked in with towels and robes. Knowing fully that they had forgot about the towels. She smiled down at the pair in the tub. Fully clothed hooligans. She drained the water and told them to get ready for bed.
Caden whined and bickered with his mother the whole time as Raina did as she was told. Avery appreciated that Raina wouldn't put up a fuss.
"Night Ave." Raina whispered as Caden followed suit.
"School blows!" Raina heard Caden scream at her foster mum.
