Chapter 4

I heard the honking from a car and instantly hurried to grab my hair tie off my bed side table. I swear I set my alarm last night but I guess I didn’t because it didn’t go off this morning. I probably look like a freak now… I had no makeup, my hair was messy and I’m still wearing my pajama shirt because I didn’t have enough time to change it! I ran down the stairs and shouted a goodbye to my parents who were still probably sleeping comfortably in their bed.

“I said eight, not ten minutes past it!” Adam shouted at me once I got in his car.

“Sorry, my alarm didn’t go off this morning.” I said, looking out the window. He didn’t say anything for awhile. Once we got on the main road he cleared his throat.

“How was Dave?” He asked.

“Nice. How was no name?” I hissed at him. He smiled but rolled his eyes. I looked back out the window and waited for us to get the day over with.

Around the same time as yesterday Dave stopped by and asked me on a date. Each time I saw him I would be fonder of him and get more comfortable, he seemed like such a sweetheart!

“I’m leaving; you can close early tonight if you want…” I told Adam as I grabbed my coat off the coat hanger.

“Going with Dave again?” I nodded my head and walked out to the front where Dave was waiting for me.

“Ready cutie?” I smiled at him as he called me cute.

“Where are we going?” I asked, watching him as he looked at the watch on his wrist.

“On a nice walk around the town… its dark out and all the lights are pretty.” I walked by him as he held the door open for me. I guess that would be cool, hopefully not too romantic.

Once we started to walk we got into the topic of working at the café.

“What’s up with this Adam dude, do you guys hate each other or something?” He asked. I shook my head.

“Yes, I have no clue why but we can’t stand each other!” He laughed at my response.

“You’re cute.” I smiled at him and could feel a blush making its way onto my face. The snow was falling lightly around us making the cement slushy.

“Let’s get something to eat… we can go to that stand. But I have to use the restroom so I’m going to go find one, wait over there.” I nodded my head and walked to the stand. They only sold hot dogs but I guess I was okay with that. I took a seat at a near by bench that was protected from the snow by an umbrella. I felt my phone vibrate so I pulled it out.

Watch out, you never know who could get you…

I was starting to worry about this unknown person with the blocked ID. Who could it be? I heard a girl scream as she was thrown into the nearby alleyway. The same man with the black hood from the night of the robbery was standing there, watching me. My heart started to pound as I shot up and starting to run. I could feel the hard pavement every time my foot landed on it. I ran as fast as I could but I knew it wasn’t good enough. I looked behind my shoulder for a split second and noticed he wasn’t far behind.

I ran into something hard, at first I thought it was a brick wall but once I opened my eyes and got myself back on my feet properly, I saw a man in a red zipped up coat looking down at me. I couldn’t really see his face besides his bright blue eyes; the coat covered most of it.
