Chapter 6  

I was giving our customer her order of coffee when he entered the café again. Adam ran out of the back and started screaming like a girl. He fainted.

I looked back up at the man who said my name.

“Emily…” I walked up to him and took off his hood. I’ve never seen him before, he looked almost… handsome.

 

“Emily! Adam is here!” I shot out of bed and put a pair of pants on as I ran down the hall towards the door. Before I opened it I check my wrist to see if I still had a hair-tie on. Check. I really need to invest in an alarm clock. I ran down the patio and got in his car out of breath. My heart was still racing from all the sudden movement.

“Just get up?” He asked. I shook my head and looked out the window.

As we pulled up to the café I grabbed my hair-tie and put my hair up in a messy bun wiping my eyes off with my large tee-shirt.

“Oh, Noah wanted me to invite you to this party type thing tonight, it’s at their place and they’re inviting everyone they know.” I looked up at him. I don’t really do parties.

“I’ll think about it…” He nodded his head and waited for me to get out so he could lock the doors.

Once inside, we clocked in and started cleaning. Adam started to get the coffee and things to cook ready as I cleaned all the tables. I heard the bells ring as I looked back up. It was only Haley.

“Hey, do you work today or something?” I asked her as she walked up to me.

“Nope, I just stopped by for some coffee.” I nodded my head and motioned for her to follow me. Since she worked here she was aloud to go in the back. Adam was talking on his phone once we got there; he noticed us and walked out side to finish the call.

“Wonder who he is talking too…” She said, looking out to the front. I rolled my eyes.

“Probably some little girl” She laughed at that as I got her cup ready.

“Are you going to that party tonight?” She asked. As I turned the machine on I looked up at her.

“You were invited?”

“Of course I was, I’m invited to everything. I heard it’s supposed to be huge and crazy.” I rolled my eyes.

“All parties are, I don’t know if I’m going… or if I even want to.” She looked at me surprised.

“What? It’s not like I party!” I shouted as the cup started to fill up with hot fresh coffee.

“You’ve never been to a party… let me take you! I’ll get you home at a decent time. Even Jen is going… and she’s older than us.” I looked at her and shook my head slowly.

“Only if we get to go home when I say…” Her eyes lit up and a grin appeared on her face.

“What got into you?” Adam asked, walking in the back and noticing Haley’s smile.

“Emily agreed to go to the party.” She cheered. Adam snapped his head towards me.

“Really, do you need a ride or something?” He asked.  I looked at him confused. Why was he being so nice?
