Chapter 10: Maya + Josh + paint = UH OH!

*its summer time and Maya completed her freshman year of high school*
Maya: *barges in the Matthews apartment* sup weirdos!
Riley: I just realized both Maya and Josh barge in the apartment without knocking *laughs*
Topanga: yeah it's funny how two people in love act alike *smiles*
Maya: boing and I are painting his apartment today *smiles*
Cory: I'm going to warn you now, my little brother is not good with paint *chuckles*
Maya: I know. When we were younger he'd get more paint on himself than the paper *smiles at the memory* good times... yeah that's why he has me to help. I'll try to make sure he doesn't waste the paint.
Josh: *barges in the apartment like Maya did* hey kiddies!
Maya: boing *starts getting weak in the knees like she used to*
Topanga: *immediately catches her* I got you honey.
Maya: *smiles* thanks. Why do I always do this?
Josh: you like me. That's why *smiles* come on Maya my motorcycle is outside *winks*
Maya: *jumps on his back and they fall to the floor* whoops!
Josh: *laughs* first you almost faint at the sight of me like you used to and now you tackled me to the ground? Maya are you okay?
Maya: *get off of him* I'm excited to paint!
Josh: then let's go! *picks her up bridal style making her laugh* bye everyone.

*they arrive at Josh's apartment and there's someone there*
Maya: *walks in with Josh laughing*
Josh: *sees Andrew* wassup my man?
Andrew: *fist bumps Josh* you ready to paint?
Maya: yeah that's what I'm here for. Long time no see Andrew! *smiles*
Andrew: hey Maya I haven't seen you since that college party *laughs at the memory*
Josh: that was the worst party of my life but it opened my eyes to how I felt about Maya *smirks*
Maya: Riley is still talking about those gamma gamma girls *rolls her eyes* okay so which room are we painting first?
Josh: my room *grabs a can of paint and a couple brushes* I'm thinking blue would look good.
Maya: *smiles* can we at least try to get the paint on the wall and not all over your face like when we were kids?
Josh: *groans* I was a kid! I didn't know any better!
Andrew: I love how you guys have known each other forever and now you guys finally are open with how you feel. So was Maya always a rebel?
Josh: she was the cutest rebel for sure. She was my partner in crime for three summers. I remember one day I did something bad at school and my mom threatened me with a no Maya summer *laughs* 12 year old me hated that.
Maya: wait did you just call me cute boing? *raises her eyebrow*
Andrew: *smiles at the two of them flirting* this long game idea is not going to last long. I'm going to repeat what I said last year: Josh what is wrong with you?
Josh: god I know I'll regret saying this but I want someday to come now. I do. But the reality is that although our families are supportive of us getting together soon, they aren't okay with it happening now. And I respect Maya too much to ever ask her to keep us a secret *looks at Maya* I don't want you to ever be something I hide from people. You're my Topanga and I want to scream it from the rooftops.
Maya: *grabs Josh's hand* I'm not going to hide you either. Now let's go paint *drags Josh to his room*
Josh: *smiles and opens the can of paint and flicks a bit onto Maya* oops?
Maya: *gasps* did you just throw paint at me? *starts throwing paint at him*
Joshaya: *spends the next hour having a paint war*

*finally after 5 hours, the apartment is painted and Josh takes Maya back to the Matthews apartment*
Joshaya: *walks in the door* hey kiddies!
Riley: *laughs* now Maya sounds like Josh!
Topanga: *takes a look at Joshaya covered in paint* what happened to you guys?
Maya: he started it by throwing paint at me! *playfully glares at Josh*
Josh: *shrugs* not my fault she's cute covered in paint.
Cory: *laughs* you two look ridiculous!
Riley: I like it. It means they had fun.
Maya: I always have fun with boing *smiles*
Topanga: I'm glad you had fun. Now it's time for Josh to go home and both of you get cleaned up. Tonight's game night and I'm not going to let you two stay covered in paint.
Josh: *hugs Maya* see you tonight gorgeous.
Maya: are you going to be my partner this time? *smiles*
Josh: maybe *winks* or you can be the host with me
Riley: Lucas is coming over so he'll be my partner *smiles*
Maya: yeah I think I can be the host boing *smiles* bye *waves as Josh walks out the door*
Topanga: so how was the painting really? *smiles*
Maya: let's just say I think I fell in love with him more *looks down blushing*
Riley: I'm never going to call you Aunt Maya *laughs* but I'm glad you guys are closer.
Cory: I love my baby brother. I do. And I love you Maya like you're my daughter. So I know he's going to take care of you and I know you'll keep him on his toes *smiles* just like when you were younger.
Maya: my memory is a bit fuzzy. How did we act back them? *lies to see what they say*
Topanga: you two were always up to something. You were his partner in crime. You two never went anywhere without the other. Back then age was nonexistent. He made sure you were safe and you made sure he had fun.
Cory: I told him he'd find a friend who would be like Shawn. You were always his Shawn and Topanga. I knew it the second you two met and shared a peanut butter and jelly sandwich *smiles*
Riley: I never got upset that you played with him so much because I knew we were always going to be best friends. I knew Josh filled a void I couldn't. Before we met Farkle I think it's safe to say that Josh was your other best friend.
Maya: *smiles* he always knew me back then.
Topanga: you two would sleep in separate rooms but someone would end up leaving to join the other *smiles* it was adorable to find you guys next to each other in the morning.
Maya: it was always Josh that moved to our room *smiles* he claimed he was sleep walking but now I know why he did it.
Cory: why do you think he always snuck into your room?
Maya: if I'm really his Topanga, if we're really soulmates then we're magnetically drawn to each other. Even back then we were always with each other. We were always meant to be *smiles* I feel the magnetic pull right now that's telling me he's close *grabs a wet rag to clean the paint off of her*
Topanga: how can he be close? He just left to clean up *looks at her curiously*
Maya: open the door. You'll see him there. He never left. I know him. He doesn't want to leave me even when he knows I'm safe. He's protective of me and we're not even dating *smiles* I love that though.
Riley: *opens the door* what the heck? Josh? *sees Josh standing there smiling*
Cory: how did you know he'd be there Maya?
Maya: I know we are meant to be. We can't be together now but I feel that magnetic pull in me that is making me want to be next to him. For several summers we were the best of friends. I know him like he knows me. Josh I know you heard us talking about when we were younger *smiles*
Josh: Cory I can't explain it but I don't want to leave her side. I know this feeling is going to get stronger and I know she's only 16. Year and half to go Maya.
Cory: Josh what you're feeling is love. You love her. You know you do. It's the love you have for her that's telling you to stay close. Maya you know why you love that he's protective? Because besides me and Shawn, he's the first guy to have come into your life showing you how much he cares and wants the best for you. Keep being protective Josh. Let the love grow more. I know you two can't wait for your someday. But don't forget to look at what each day is trying to teach you.
Maya: *looks at Josh* I have another feeling that I know very well.
Topanga: what's that honey?
Josh: I know that look she's giving me and I want to give her what she wants *sees Cory's face* not that Cor! Not yet anyways *blushes*
Riley: Maya why are you looking at him like that?
Josh: it's the face that's telling me that she wants to kiss me although it's breaking one of our rules but to hell with it! *rushes to her and kisses her*
Maya: *immediately kisses him back*
Topanga: *smiles* they're so in love and I'm happy they can feel and recognize that pull they have. That special bond.
Josh: *pulls away* how can I always tell what you're thinking just by a look on your face?
Maya: because you love me and you know it. You can tell what I'm thinking because we have a special bond *smiles* thank you for always being there when we were kids. You were the best part of the summer.
Josh: gorgeous I love you. I really do *kisses her again*
Topanga: guys are we going to play or not? *everyone gathers around to play a game. Josh and Maya are the hosts*

A/N: that's the end of this chapter! I wanted joshaya to acknowledge the pull they have to each other. And it seems like everyone supports them right? 😉 next chapter is going to be set during Maya and Riley's sophomore year. I think it will either be Maya getting asked out and Josh has to deal with it or it'll be homecoming and Maya needs a date for the dance and needs Josh's approval to go with Zay.
