Chapter 13: Road Trip to Philadelphia

*three hours later they're around the corner from Amy and Allan's house*
Maya: *smiles as she sees the house come into view* it's exactly the same as it was 6 years ago!
Josh: yup! Oh shoot I forgot to call my mom and tell her we're coming over. Whoops *pulls into the driveway*
Amy: *cooking in the kitchen and hears a motorcycle outside* Allan! Is that Josh outside?
Allan: I think so. I don't think George has any friends who own motorcycles *laughs*
Amy: *rushes out the door to see Josh and Maya* Joshua! I didn't know you were coming over! And who's that with you? Oh my god is Maya okay with you being with another girl?
Josh: *laughs at how his mom can't tell it's Maya because her name is on the back of her helmet* hey mom. It was a spur of the moment thing. And yeah Maya knows I'm here *smiles*
Maya: *takes off her helmet* hey there!
Amy: *sees Maya and starts laughing* Maya! What a pleasant surprise! Allan! Come outside. Josh and Maya are here!
Allan: Maya? *comes outside and sees Maya and Josh* hey Maya! Hey son. How was the drive here?
Josh: smooth. I love driving it *smiles*
Allan: you're definitely my son. You're the only son who got my love for motorcycles *smiles*
Maya: you had one?
Amy: he did and I was known to ride with him *smiles* is my son being safe with you on it with him?
Maya: he's a gentleman. You raised a great guy *smiles at Josh*
Josh: sorry we dropped by without telling you mom *hugs his mom*
Allan: what brings you guys to Philly?
Josh: Maya wanted to see it since she hasn't been here in years. Looks like the treehouse is still intact *smiles*
Amy: it is. I'm fixing lunch. I'll call you two when it's ready *smiles and walks back inside*
Maya: *runs to the ladder of the treehouse* come on Josh!
Josh: *laughs* I'm coming ferret *climbs up after her and smiles* it's still the same.
Maya: *sits down* this was the spot Josh *smiles at the memory*
Josh: I remember. You had the cutest two braids and cute freckles *moves a piece of her hair behind her ears*
Maya: I still have freckles and I still wear braids *laughs* guess I'm still 10 years old.
Josh: no you're not. You're a gorgeous 16 year old woman Maya. Yeah your freckles are still there and yeah you sometimes have a braid in your hair. But I love that. I love your freckles and your beautiful blond hair. Even when your hair is in a messy bun and you're in sweats, you're gorgeous to me *kisses her forehead*
Maya: you're sweet. You were always a sweetheart even when you were younger. I remember the second summer I was here I told you I thought I was ugly. Do you remember what you said to me? *sits next to him and he wraps his arms around her*
Josh: yeah I said that you're the prettiest girl I know and there's nothing wrong with you *smiles*
Maya: that was the moment I realized I liked you *looks up at him*
Josh: I want to kiss you again in this exact spot *looks at her lips then her eyes then back at her lips*
Maya: we might as well erase rule number 2 *bites her lip*
Josh: rules were meant to be broken *kisses her passionately and pulls her onto his lap*
Maya: *kisses him back with as much love and passion*
Josh: *pulls away* I didn't want to stop but I remembered where we are and that it's not someday yet.
Maya: *smiles sadly* I know it's not someday but I'm enjoying every day I spend with you. Thank you for keeping your promise from the Ski Lodge *strokes his cheek* you helped me have hope.
Josh: I swore to you that we'd be in each other's lives. I swore I wouldn't leave you. I intend to keep that promise *lifts her hand from his cheek and kisses her palm*
Maya: I never thought our age mattered. I never cared before that you're older than me. But right now I hate our age difference. I hate that we can't be together right now. I know that if we were the same age nothing would stop us *looks down* I never felt like I'm wanted Josh. My dad left me and I'm terrified that you will too even though you promise you won't.
Josh: Maya I'm not going anywhere unless you're with me. You are wanted gorgeous. Believe me you are *hugs her*
Maya: yeah? By who? *rests her head on his shoulder*
Josh: *lifts her head so they're staring at each other* by me. I want you Maya. I choose you and I will always choose you. Please don't think you're not loved. You are. By Riley, your friends, my family, your family, and me. I do love you Maya. I truly do *kisses her forehead* what can I do to show you that I'm here to stay?
Maya: *smiles* just continue to stay. By staying you're showing me everyday that you won't leave me. I opened my heart to you. I don't do that often. My heart is yours Josh. Don't break it.
Josh: my heart is entwined with yours gorgeous. If I break your heart, I'll be breaking my own. I won't hurt you *kisses her nose*
Maya: *giggles* you think your mom is almost done with lunch? I'm hungry *smiles*
Josh: *grabs her hand* let's go see *takes one last look at the treehouse* this treehouse is special to us. I pray we'll be able to come back soon [A/N: I'm curious if you see where I'm going with this... keep in mind that this treehouse is a significant place for Joshaya]
Amy: *sees Josh and Maya walk into the house* your timing is perfect. Lunch is ready *smiles*
Josh: *smiles* thank you mom. I'm glad we came today.
Maya: yes I'm really happy we did. I miss this house a lot. Those summers were the best I had *smiles*
Allan: how's the treehouse Josh? Still holding up? *smiles knowingly*
Josh: *smiles* yeah dad it's still the same. We were just reliving some memories.
Amy: and those memories include kissing? *smirks at the two of them*
Maya: *blushes* you saw that?
Amy: *laughs* honey the treehouse is directly in front of this window. Did you forget the treehouse also has a window?
Josh: *rubs the back of his neck* whoops? Sorry you had to see us kiss.
Allan: we know what it's like to be young. Son I know you hate waiting for someday. I know you both do. But when that day comes you might just be happy that you did wait. What if you got together now and it didn't work out because you weren't ready? It'd be a mess. But if you wait until the right time you could be together for the rest of your lives *smiles* just know we are on your side here son. We both are rooting for you two.
Amy: you two have something special that I've only ever seen in one other couple. Cory and Topanga. You two have the potential to be great together. Continue to wait. Continue to be in each other's lives. Continue growing your love. We see that you love each other. Cory was three when he said he loves Topanga. And he meant it. So I know you two mean it.
Maya: thank you. I don't like waiting but I'm glad we have people that are in our corner. I honestly was afraid you wouldn't like our plan for someday *looks down at her food*
Josh: I knew they were on our side because they always wanted me to be happy. And they know that you make me happy so they know we are not playing around. I'm in it for the long game no matter how long it takes *rubs her hand softly*
