Chapter Seventeen: Aftermath

Yuuki's POV

My breathing won't slow even though I'm trying to calm myself. It has been two days since Kagura revealed herself as the villain, and took my sister and the Night Class to an unknown location. Luckily through all this chaos I've managed to stay with Zero, though Scarlet and Nathan went their own path in this madness.

"Don't worry," Zero says hastily, shooting a bullet from his Bloody Rose. "We'll find them and get out of this mess."

"We've been fighting these Level E vampires nonstop and have found no clues. We can't even contact the others!" I exclaim, swinging my scythe down to kill the final beast that stands before me. "Right now it feels impossible..."

I look behind me to see Zero standing still, as if frozen, with an irritated look on his face. He says such bold words, yet he himself is more worried then me. I can tell he too feels hopeless, hopeless that we won't find the Night Class, nor my sister. I can't stop thinking that something might've happened to Sakura, something horrible.

I collapse on the ground and hear the clank of Artimis hitting the pavement. I close my eyes and try yet again to calm myself down. But knowing my sister and the Night Class has been abducted by the enemy doesn't help. Nothing will make me feel better until I feel my older sisters arms around me and hear her sweet voice.

I suddenly feel a hand wrap around my shoulder and I look behind me to see Zero kneeling down next to me. He has a faint smile on his lips as he says, "I know your worried about your sister. I am too, but we have to stay strong."

I look at Zero with wide eyes. I'm not the only one worried about Sakura, he is too. Doesn't he hate vampires, specifically Purebloods? If so, why does he worry about my sister? Does he have....

"You know it's hard for me to do that Zero," I purr sheepishly. "If I had just one of my siblings here to comfort me I'd feel better, but with Kaname gone and Sakura kidnapped nothing will make me feel that way."

Before Zero can say another word a voice booms behind us. Both of us turn around with our weapons at hand but we lower Artimis and Bloody Rose when we see who is now before us.

"You guys need to suck it up," Scarlet hisses as a man grins next to her. The moment I see him I raise Artimis for an attack but Zero lowers my weapon. His action takes me by surprise. I've never seen this man before, is he an enemy? Then again Scarlet would've attacked him by now.

"Cool your jets Yuuki, he's an ally," Scarlet says with her arms crossed. "His name is Nathan Atkin. He's a friend of your brother and sister."

"Aww I thought you were gonna say I'm your friend," Nathan jokes, wrapping an arm around Scarlet's abdomen and pulling her in for a side hug. Out of what looks like rage Scarlet pushes him off of her and growls in disgust.

I giggle, those two are too cute together. I look over at Zero, who has a blank expression on his face. I want to read his mind, to know what he is thinking. But I know that is wrong. Besides I already know what is wrong with him, what's the point of snooping farther?

"Now that I've given this vampire a few punches," Scarlet says with an irritated look on her face as she is still holding her hand in a fist. "We've found something."

Zero and I both gasp in shock, and I begin to bombard Scarlet with questions. Before I could finish Nathan puts his hand over my mouth to shut me up. Scarlet sighs in relief before Nathan speaks.

"You'll understand it better if we show you."

Scarlet and Nathan begin to run in the direction from which they came. Zero and I follow hastily behind when we finally come across a gate which is chained with countless locks, leading into the Moon Dorms. Not wasting a moment I rush up to the gate and attempt to break the locks with Artimis. But as I'm swinging her down I hear Scarlet yell, "Wait!"

The moment Artimis clashes with the chains sparks fly and I'm flown backwards. To my surprise I'm caught by Zero who instantly puts me down. We both walk up to Nathan who begins to explain what just happened.

"Kagura is a very powerful Pureblood, maybe even more powerful then the Kuran Clan. She's sealed the gates with an ancient spell, one that won't break unless something the caster wants is accomplished."

"What could that be?" Zero asks with hate in his voice. "She has the whole Night Class in there. Isn't it just Sakura she is after?"

My eyes go wide and I shake Zero. I exclaim hastily, "That's it! She wants this to be Sakura's downfall! She wants her dead!"

I rush up to the gates and I grasp two metal bars and shake with all my might. "Open you damn gates!" I exclaim as I begin to cry. "I won't let you take my sister, you hear?!"

I feel arms wrap around me and I collapse. With a tear stained face I look behind me and see Zero. Before he has the chance to speak a voice booms above us.

"Your just waiting your time Kuran." I look up and see Kagura with a grin on her face, a devilish one.

I instantly get up and hold Artimis firmly in a fighting position. I exclaim, "What the hell have you done to Sakura you monster?!"

Kagura chuckles as she slowly descends from the sky, "I'm not the only monster here you know. We all are, including the deadly huntress..."

"Answer me!" I hiss with a twisted face.

Kagura smiles, "Don't worry butterfly your sister is safe. For now."

I scream as I rush towards Kagura but before my scythe has the chance to hit her she disappears in a black mist and all I could hear was her chuckle in my mind.

"I hope you enjoyed your memories with her. You'll make no more."

I collapse on the ground and I feel the presence of Scarlet, Nathan, and Zero around me. I felt a hand wrap around my wrist and I expected to look behind me and see Zero, but instead I see Nathan with a sly smile on his face.

"Damn that Pureblood," Scarlet hisses with her arms crossed. "At least we know where they are now."

"The only problem we have now is getting inside," Zero says with irritation in his voice.

I get up and don't say a word for the longest time, taking everyone by surprise. I hold Artimis, now as a rod, and I look at the Moon Dorms behind me with a stern face.

I'll get my sister back, I think. Even if it kills me.
