It's a cold Monday morning, I love cold weather. The only thing that'll ruin the day for me is school.
As I walk through the school gates the previously heavy rain becomes much lighter, I locate my friends and begin to walk in that direction. I walk past Shaun and Andys table, and rather then them giving me their usual glare as cold as glaciers their faces are warm as they smile friendly. I smile at them, I can't believe it was one small encounter at work that broke the ice.
"You finally talked to him?" my friend Kate questions. I'd say Kate and I are the quiet ones of the group, it's probably why we get along so well.
The bell sounds. Before I excuse myself I inform Kate that they came into my work yesterday, she tells me we'll talk about it later and we both head in opposite directions.

The first four classes of the day are a breeze. There's only five minutes left of Human Bio until it's time for lunch. I constantly check my watch, waiting for this class to be over but as soon as I start counting time goes slower.
I pack away basically one second before the bell rings, it's funny how that happens sometimes. I walk out of class and directly into the year twelve eating area.
I take a seat at our table, still wet from the rain this morning but it doesn't really bother me. Kate takes a seat beside me and begins to talk, suddenly her eyes widen as she taps me on the shoulder. Her hand gestures for me to turn around, as I turn and look up I see Andy. He looks kind of nervous.
"Hey, can I have a second" he asks, Kate gets the picture and says she has to 'go to the canteen'.
He takes a seat beside me, smiles, and ruffles his hand through his dark blonde hair.
He begins talking. "Hey, um. Shaun and I were wondering if you could help us out with something"
He stops. "I can try" I answer. "what can I do?"
He begins again. "Okay. Well, you may... or may not know that Shaun, Bradie and I are in a band"
I nod my head. "I know"
He smiles. "Well we've recorded a demo cd, and I was thinking because you work at a cd shop you could maybe put it on display"
I bite my lip to assure him I'm thinking. "I'd like to that for you, but I'll have to ask my boss first" I reassure him.
"Thank you, it'd mean a lot"
"My pleasure"
Before he says anything else another voice calls his name.
"Andy!" Beth squeals. Beth being Andy's girlfriend.
He rolls his eyes. "I have to go"
I let him go, lucky enough Kate's back. As Beth walks passed Kate and I she give's us both a cold stare. As Kate walks closer to me Beth somehow trips over Kate's leg.
"Oh, I'm really sorry" Kate says politely.
She walks away without a word but her facial expression is blunt and brutal. I can't help but laugh, although it seems mean to.
Kate and I continue laughing, not loudly, we do our best to not make a sound but our faces make it really obvious.
Shaun looks over at us, he's laughing also. Probably because he knows the reason we're laughing.
Andy notices Shaun looking over and turns around to look at us. His face observant, probably wondering what on earth we're all laughing at. I turn my expression blank and half smile at Andy. Shaun says something to Andy and then gets up from his seat. As Shaun makes his way to our table he re-enacts Beths fall over earlier, I know he did it for the purpose of our entertainment.
"Whoops, my bad" he says jokingly sending Kate and I into hysterical laughter, I swear I even see a tear fall from her eye. He seems like such a great guy.
Before he takes a seat with us he asks permission, I grant it without having to even think.
He sits and talks with us for the rest of lunch. He tells us why he dislikes Beth, he has many valid reasons. I don't dislike her that much, we used to be quite close but she's changed a lot.
The lunch bell goes, I thank Shaun for the chat and proceed to my last class for the day.

On the walk home from school I explain to Kate and my other friend Emma what happened in the record store.
