Andys P.O.V

It's five thirty and I've just got home fromthe local shopping centre, Shaun and I decided we'd hang there for a little bit after school.

As soon as I get home it immediately occurs me that I have to call Isabel. I look at the phone and take a deep breath. I'm  nervous I'll mess up some how, but it's pretty hard to mess up over the phone. Then again, anything is possible when I'm this nervous.

I hope to death that Emma and Shaun aren't lying about her liking me, Shaun wouldn't lie to me but if he did I'd imagine this would be extremely awkward. I know it's short notice but I've decided to ask Isabel to the year twelve ball, this may seem cruel to say but even while I was with Beth I still always hoped it was Isabel I would go with.

I sit comfortably on my bed, my phone laying not even an inch away from me. From the pocket of my tight jeans I pull out the folded piece of paper with her number on it. I open the paper to reveal her perfect hand writing and I immediately smile as she dotted the 'I' in her name with a heart.

I dial each number slowly wasting as much time as possible. Before I press the 'Call' button I take a deep breath. "Here goes nothing" I mutter to myself.

I hear the dial tone three times before a click.

"Hello?" her cool velvety voice speaks, instantely sending shivers from the top of my spine to the bottom.

"Hey it's Andy" I finally manage to say.

I hear her voice light up ask she repeats "heeeey" and asks how I am. Hearing her voice makes me less nervous by the minute.

"So" I begin. "I have to ask you something"

"Ask me then". I laugh at how easy it is for her to be persistant, she probably has no clue how hard this is for me to ask.

I take another deep breath. "Well, the ball is this saturday" she doesn't say anything so I continue. "... and I was hoping you'd maybe, go with me"

"Oh" she says, not exaclty the responce I was after. It didn't sound like a bad "oh" though.

"Is everything okay?" I ask.

"Yeah, I just thought you'd be going with Beth. That's all"

She obviously hasn't heard the news yet. I tell her that Beth and I broke up, she sympathetically says sorry and sounds kind of surpised that I don't care much. I mean, it did bother me when it happened but I'm okay now.

"Well" she says with a slight pause. "If it's me you want to go with, I'd be happy to"

If only she could see the smile on my face at this moment.

"I'm looking forward to it" I say in the most sincerest tone as possible.

We talk on the phone for another half an hour, I tell her exactly what happened with Beth and to get Shaun in a little bit of trouble I tell her that he told me that she likes me. She says she won't be at school tomorrow but before she hangs up she gives me her address to pick her up on Saturday.

For the rest of the night I'm in an extremely good mood. Shaun rings and asks if I want to stay at his house tonight, I accept his offer and pack everything I'll need for school tomorrow.

I briskly walk down the stairs to be greeted by Bradie and my mum sitting at the kitchen table talking.

"I'm going to Shauns" I inform them both.

"You're... smiling" my mum says surprised. I give her a sarcastic 'ha ha'.

Bradie steps in. "He asked Isabel to the ball and judging by the look on his face, she said yes"

"Who's Isabel?" she asks curiously.

"The girl he drew a love heart on in last years yearbook" Bradie informs her as if it's information that should be shared with the whole world.

If I wasn't in a good mood I would've hit him. I quickly walk to the door avoiding more awkward conversation and head to my car.
