It's Thursday morning. For the past half an hour I've been listening to Emma talk about how Shaun asked her to the ball. I'm not complaining but it makes me a little bit upset that no-one's asked me, going alone isn't bad I guess.
Shaun and Andy walk into school, I wave at them and decide I'm tired of listenening to Emma repeat herself. I notify her of where I'm going then walk over to their table and join them.
"Issy!" Shaun calls out, immediately putting a smile on my face. He stands up and gives me a friendly hug and then returns to his spot on the bench. Normally when I hug Shaun, Andy's face tenses but today he looks calmer.
"Hey Andy" I say, leaning against the table. He pats the empty part of the seat signaling for me to take a seat beside him, so that's exactly what I do.
I start conversation. "So, I heard you asked Emma to the dance" I direct at Shaun. A grin forms on his face from cheek to cheek and I wink at him cheekily.
"I did" he then answers.
I can't help but let out an 'awwwww'. I was hoping they'd get together, she told me she liked him.
"Are you going with anyone?" Shaun asks, he glimpses over at Andy who suddenly becomes interested in conversing.
"Nope, I'm riding solo"
"So no-one's asked you?" Shaun adds.
"Nope, no-one"
Both him and Andy look surprised but before they can further say anything the bell goes. I salute them and head to my first class. On the way to class I see Bradie and he greets my with a hug but we part quickly as the second bell rings.

I'm sitting in the last class before lunch, thinking about the events of recess.
Today at reccess Andy and Beth sat at completely different tables and when they walked passed eachother they didn't even say a word to eachother, let alone make eye contact. Maybe they got in a fight?
Andy seemed pretty out of it this morning, he must be upset about it. I would ask what happened but I'm not one to get in other peoples business. My thoughts are interrupted by the lunch bell, I roll my eyes in relief and pick up my heavy school bag.
As I walk to our regular spot I only see Kate seated, which is odd considering Emma's always first to the table. I peer around the area to notice Kate sitting beside Shaun at their table. By looking at her I capture her attention, I wink at her and she scowls at me. I knw the only reason she scowled is because she's trying not giggle.
Kate and I converse for a majority of lunch, mainly about how cute Emma and Shaun are together. We subtly look back to see what moves his making, he's only put his arm around her shoulders for now.
There's only a few more minutes until lunch is over, Kate says she has something to tell Shaun and asks me if I want to come with her. I refuse as I have limited time to finish my salad, but in all honesty I'd like to go talk to Andy.
I promised myself I'd try move on since he's in a relationship and he obviously intends to stay that way, but I always wonder whether it'd be any different if him and Beth weren't together.
I look over using my peripheral vision just to see if Kate is heading back, but instead I see her and Shaun pushing Andy in my direction. He breaks their hold as we make eye contact and begins to walk over casually.
"Hey, can I sit?" he asks as if he really believes he needs my permission. His face looks as though it should be in a smile, but he seems nervous which changes the expression a little bit.
"Of course" I answer calmly.
He's quiet. He looks as though he's trying to say something and he keeps turning his head to look at me, but every time our eyes meet he turns it back to profile almost instantly.
He finally speaks. "I need to talk to you about something..."
"Go ahead" I encourage him. I'm quite eager to hear what he has to say.
Just as he gains the confidence to speak again the bell sounds. He groans.
"I hate to do this, but I really should get to class" I tell him, If I'm late to English my teacher will have a cow.
"Can I call you?" he asks.
"Sure" I smile. I pull out a pen from my bag and rip a piece of paper out a random book quickly and scribble down my number. I hand it to him and we go our seperate ways to our classes. I wonder what he had to tell me, and why it's so important that he had to call me tonight rather then telling me tomorrow.
I find myself completely unconcentrated in English, what is it he needs to talk about? why was he so nervous? As I zone back into school mode I pick up my pen and begin to work.
