Remington's POV
Simon was sitting behind his desk smiling as I walked in. I smiled as well trying not to freak out. Simon Cowell is standing in front of me. My hero. My mentor. He is in front of me.
"Hello Mr. Cowell, I'm Remington Cartwright." I say with a smile, walking up to his desk stretching my hand out to shake his. He takes my hand and shakes it.
"Hello Remington. It's very nice to meet you. You look wonderful." He says and I beam. Good first impression, check.
"Thank you, sir." I say.
"I like your name too. It's a strong name. Remington in it's own, but adding the Cartwright. Your parents named you well." He laughed.
"Thank you. My dad likes guns." I joked and he laughed again, smiling.
"I'll take mental note of that," He laughs, "but right now, I'd like to get to know you a little bit better. Please tell me about yourself."
"Well, as I said, my name is Remington Cartwright. Most people find Remington a mouthful, so most people call me Remi or Rem for short. You may feel free to do so as well if you'd like." I smile and he nods his head. I continue, "I'm 20 years old and a student in the United States. Not to sound too cheesy, but it has been my dream to work for you ever since I was in 3rd grade and saw American Idol for the first time." He laughs, I smile. "With my degree I plan to work for a recording studio, probably starting lower and working my way up to the top of a company. Later in life, after making a name for myself in the music world, I'd like to do something like The X Factor, because I want to talented people achieve their dreams. My favorite music is classic rock, but I do listen to a little bit of everything. Since I was 15 I've studied top 40 radio all over the world. Primarily America, the UK, and Australia. I've noticed patterns and other interesting things such as America's top 40 really only changes every 6 months, where BBC Radio 1 adds new music every week at least, and then Australia's music patterns are about 2 months behind most American top 40. With this internship, I plan on working as hard as I possibly can on whatever job you plan to give me. My first priority is to show you that I have the skills and ability to blow you away and do amazing things in this business. Skills such as marketing and finance are my specialty. If you look at my resume you'll see that I've worked for street teams, I've had small gigs working with large music festivals in the United States such as Lollapalooza for multiple years in a row. I've worked for small music companies in my state, and overall I believe I have some good experience under my belt, so I did not come into your production label blindly." I stopped, not knowing if he wanted me to continue. He sighed. Crap. Did I do something wrong? I gave him a confused look.
"You, Remington Cartwright. Are one impressive girl." With that, I breathed a sigh of relief. Thank god. "And you're exactly what I'm looking for. I have a certain project I was going to have one of the interns work on while they stay here."
"Really!?" I got very excited and then realized I lost my cool for a second, "I mean, thank you so much sir, that means a lot to me."
"Remi, please call me Simon. Now, let's take a walk down to one of the studios, I want to get a feel of what your ear and opinion is of some of the demos and recordings we are working on right now are." He got up from his desk and I followed suit. He held the door open and I walked out. We walked down the direction that the boys went down eventually and came to a door. He walked in and there was a girl, young and pretty, singing a song I hadn't heard before.
"I assume because you study pop charts you know a good amount about pop music?" Simon asked me.
"Yeah, I have a good idea." I said with confidence.
