There's This Guy. He Lives In My Room. Oh, Yeah, And He's A Ghost.

Chapter 9

Taylor's POV

I trudge up the road, heading for Finn's house.

I left Miles on a bench over looking the sea.

When Miles kissed me last night, I was so shocked that I just sat there, unmoving.

When he pulled away, he started stuttering, gibberish, and then he disappeared.

Seriously.

He went, like, poof.

I couldn't sleep. I was just tossing and turning, all night long, I was so restless.

I got up extra early this morning, and was pacing my room.

I'd worked myself up for some big confrontation, or something.

There was no point.

When Miles finally turned up, there was no mention of the night before.

Nada.

I felt a bit hurt, to be honest, but I didn't say anything.

And neither did he.

~~~
When I get to the front door, I ring the doorbell.
Finn opens it, grinning. "Wow, you actually used the doorbell, for once."
I make a face at him, and stride in.
Finn motions me to go into the sitting room.
I do.
I realise I've never been in there before, all of my encounters with Finn has been in the kitchen.
"So." Finn says. "Why do you keep coming all the time?"
I turn to face him. "It's complicated, and-"
He interrupts me. "And it would be breaking your promise. I know."
I shrug, I turn to look at the room.
It's gorgeous, lovely and white and big.
There's a big black mantelpiece, and sitting on top is a big photo.
In it, are a slightly younger Miles and Finn, standing in front of a man and woman.
"That's Miles," Says Finn, and I realise that he's standing right behind me.
"I know," I answer.
"And mom. Dad."
I peer closer, and I can see that they do resemble their parents.
"I HATE them," Finn says, his voice filled with venom.
"What? Why?"
"For being away all the time. For not being here when we needed them."
"Because they were working?" I'm surprised. Surely its' not their fault they have to work.
"Working?" Finn's voice is incredulous. "Who told you that?" Before I can answer, goes "'Miles', right? No, they don't work. They go on holiday on the time. They told us they were working, and Miles believed them. I knew the truth."
