You and me

Part 1 - The News

It was my summer holidays. And when school reopens, I will be on my third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
My family were all Slytherins for a long long time except for me, as I was sorted into Gryffindor. It did cause somewhat of a ruckus in the family, but my parents stuck to my side, and slowly it all subsided.
Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley happen to be great friends of mine and I was quite fond of them. But, I wasnt much close to Harry Potter. There was something that always prevented that friendship. I really cant put a finger to it, but both of us knew.

Today my house was under total chaos. Mother and father were running around the house, with all our servants following them.
"What is going on ?" I asked Mum as soon as i caught hold of her - I had to literally grab her gown to make her stay.
"Amelia !" she said, annoyed. "What are you doing here ?!?"
"Can you please tell me what the fuss is all about? Please ?"
"Mia, darling, come here" Mum said, taking my arm and leading me to the nearby couch where we both sat. People usually knew me as Mia. I didnt really agree with the name Amelia.
"Everything happened so fast, dear. " Mum started. "We are having very special guests for dinner tomorrow night ! "
"Who ?"
"The Malfoys, Mia"
I stared at my Mother.
"They are very important people, Mia. One of the purest of pureblood families !" she said.
I rolled my eyes at that.
"Amelia ! You are not going to pull any stunts while they are here ! Do you understand ?! "
" Why are they coming ? "I asked.
I knew their brat of a son Draco Malfoy from school. He was a bully. And I had a certain disliking for him.
Mum squeezed my hand.
" Mia, they are coming here for a very important matter. And its the very best for you, my darling" she said, with flash of sadness passing her beautiful face. "They are coming here to have you and Draco betrothed"
"What is that ?" I asked, narrowing my eyes in suspicsion.
"Like an engagement " She said, "You will be marrying him when the time comes."
I sprang up from where I was sitting. This cannot be happening.
It just cant be.
"Amel-" Mum started, but was cut off by my loud screaming.
"But I DONT want to marry Draco !" I whined. "Not now not EVER !!!!"
The room echoed my loud sobs.
"He is a bully, Mum ! And he has been nothing but mean to me for the past two years !"
"Calm down Child !" Mum said, pulling me down to the couch, holding me tightly.
"This is being done for your own good, Mia. This marriage will only be after your schooling at Hogwarts, when you are ready for it."
I was not convinced
"My dear Mia, this is necessary . Please understand that for now"
There was no more discussion about it after that. Mum just got up and took me to her room where she had some things laid out for me.
A beautiful green dress. I was almost black if you didnt look closely. With some beautiful white stones embedded near the neckline, forming a sparkling rose. And a pretty necklace with emeralds and diamonds on it.
I went back to room spent the rest of my day sulking.
