You and me

Part 6 - The Yule Ball (1)

The Quidditch world cup venue was packed with people. There was not an inch of space in the stadium. Draco wanted me to watch the game with him, so we were together,at the VIP section. Throughout the game, he just talked about getting back to the Manor. And just a while after the game, something happened.
Something violent. Masked men destroying everything. Draco looked so terrified, it disturbed me. Then, there was a skull in the sky, with a snake slithering through it. Dracos face began to distort, and I was screaming.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed me into reality.
"Mia wake up !"
Nightmares.

Hermione, Ginny and I and were sitting by the lake, talking.
"Anyone asked you yet ? To the ball ?" Ginny asked.
Hermione gave us a grin, but didnt say anything.
I shrugged. "Not yet" I said.
I expected Draco to come sooner, but he didnt ask me yet. And now I was beginning to wonder if hes planning to ask me at all.
Ginny told us that she will be going with Neville, eventhough she didnt  look much happy about that.
This put me in a bad mood all day.
I sat poking at my food during lunch, unable to eat anything.
"Mia" said Fred Weasley. "If Malfoy doesnt take you to the ball, Im always open" He winked at me.
"Go away, Fred !" I sulked. "But thanks"
He grinned.
I got off earlier than the others and walked towards the Gryffindor common room. I just needed some time on my own.
The hallways were full of students, and half way through I was grabbed to a different corridor by someone.
"Hey ! I've been looking for you !" Draco's face had a big smile on it.
"I was right here" I said "Whats the matter?"
"The ball" said Draco, scratching the back of his neck.
"What about it ?"I asked, my heart beating faster by the minute.
He looked nervous. And so cute !
"Amelia Harper...would you go to the ball with me ?" Draco said, with a smile on his face.
I was beyond estatic.
"Yes !!!" I said with a squeal, and put my arms around his neck, hugging him in happiness.
And a second later, I jumped apart, blushing heavily. I saw him blushing from the corner of my eyes.
An awkward moment later, Draco broke the silence.
"Whew...that went well" He said giving an embarrased smile. "If thats how you are going to be, I should ask you out more often!"
I was turning a deep shade of scarlet by then, most probably. Draco leaned against a wall, watching my face change different shades of red.
After I regained some stability, I turned to face him.
"What took you so long to ask ??" I asked . " I thought you might not"
"Who else can I ask, stupid girl" he said ." Its only going to be you...so I thought I will take my time ! You didnt think of going with someone else did you ?"
Draco narrowed his eyes at me.
"No" I said "But I would have beaten the life out of you if you went with someone else"
"Impressive" said Draco with a laugh.
