~Madison's POV
Flashback -
Before the incident
Location : EarthEvery since I moved to Washington I rarely have time to myself. I just started training with NASA to pilot advanced technology planes. However, with Earth on the brink of destruction the government have been working us.
The morning is the only time I get to myself. I grab my water bottle and head to my private gym in my house. I start up the treadmill and switch on the TV in front of me. I always watch the news at this time just to be updated.
"Today, we are being notified that another nuclear storm is going to pass through Earth. We're going to switch over to Ryan to tell us about the weather."
"Thanks, Kelly. The storm seems to be more severe than the last one, so keep your children inside today. If you get caught in traffic, roll up your windows and stay inside your vehicles. With the atmosphere breaking the government is working on gettin-- e-e-eveerrr"
The TV starts flicking and the lights go off. Outside the sky fills with green, toxic smoke. I leave the gym area and go to the living room closer to the front door. Just as I was about to sit down, I can vaguely see a hand on the window. Shortly, after there's banging and on the door. Without hesitating I open the door to let a man inside.
"Oh my god, let help you" I said leading him to the kitchen.
His skin a bright red and some even peeling off. I run to the bathroom to get a big dry towel, and soak it in soap water. I grab other materials that will help sterilize and heal his wounds. I return to the living room and sit down next to him.
Despite the bruised skin and torn clothes, he's gorgeous. I've never seen him around before. His eyes are what catch my attention the most.
His eyes.
My thoughts were rudely interrupted by the electricity turning back on. I quickly avert my eyes. For awhile there's a silence between, we're both focusing on tending his wounds. After wrapping his arms up in bandages, I head to the kitchen to grab him some water. I head in the living room, giving him the cup of water.
"Thank you, I appreciate everything you've done for me. I'm Hayden by the way" he said raising his hand to shake mine.
I reach for his hand to shake it.
"Nice to meet you Hayden, I'm Madison."
He lifts his head slightly to the side just staring at me. I can feel my heart speeding up as he analyzes my face.
"Yeah, I know who you are" Hayden said smirking. Taken by surprise, my eyes widen.
Before I could ask anymore questions, he continues to talk.
"Do you mind if I turn on the television?"
"Oh, no. Of course let's watch the news."
I switch on the TV, looking outside the storm is still getting stronger. Flipping through channels until I get to the news. I sit next to Hayden, but not too close. It's going to be awhile before we can leave the safety of my house.
Facing my attention to the news.
"I'm Ryan. I'm Kelly and we're back for an update on the storm."
"The storm seems to be getting stronger. There has been several events where houses are catching on fire. We advise to have any fire equipment you have near you at all times. If you're in a vehicle stay just where you are."
