~ Heler's POV
Current year: 2016
The bright light eventually simmers down. I once regain my clear vision. I find myself laying on my back. The familiar scenery of the tent fills my vision. My best friend Madison hovering over me. Her eyes filled with excitement.
"Sooo, what did you see?" she asks with a big smile on her face.
I just stare blankly at her, and then I focus my eyes on Fiona. The fortune lady. I hoist my upper body on my elbows while I'm still laying down.
"Heler? Is something wrong?" Madison asks; her smile fading off her face.
One last glance at Fiona I rush out of the tent while the voice of Madison yells out to me. I run as fast as my alien legs will take me.
"Ahhh!" feeling my body slam onto the cold hard ground.
I sit up; rubbing my head in pain. I look up to see who I ran into. He helps get up from off the ground.
"You were running so fast I barely saw you coming. You have to watch out! We don't need our precious young aliens getting hurt." The man says to me.
The man looks oddly like Dylan. My. My.
Father?
I take off running once again to the tunnel where Madison and I arrived to the Halloween festival in the first place.
I arrive to tunnel, and completely out of breath. I stop for a moment to catch my breath.
"Heler! Heler! Heler, there you are?!" Madison comes heading my way.
I quickly jump into the tunnel that sucks me in and spurts me out a couple blocks from my street. The once soft, and easy breeze that blew earlier has turned into a cold, harsh wind. I walk slowly trying not be knocked over with my arms wrapped around me in an attempt to keep warm.
Fourteen. I turned fourteen and of all the days on my birthday is when I learn my family isn't my family. Though, what I don't understand is if Madison was a human in the fortune. Why is she here! On Katzaria! In the fortune it was only Madison and her sister because their parents weren't in life when they were growing up. Maybe?
Maybe, Faith and Madison aren't humans!!
Her parents must found a way to make them humans long term and that is a huge threat to alien society. I have a lot of questions, and I'm confused. Soon my questions will be answered for sure. I open the door to our house. My aunt and I.
"Door opened by Heler Hins." the house states.
The house completely dark except the little moonlight that shines through the glass. I look around and my aunt seems to at work still. She supposed to get off at 9:50.
"House, what time is it?" did I mention how advanced alien technology is!
"Heler, on the planet of Katzaria based on human time it is 9:30 pm." the house says.
Hmph.
It's about ten minutes until my Aunt Yumina gets off of work. I kind don't understand why Fiona would show me the future because now that I know I could -- I could stop the future!
How dumb of her!
I head upstairs to my room. I soon as I open my door I'm bombarded by my best friend.
"Holy! Madison!" I scream at her.
"You just left, so I decided what best way to keep you from ignoring me. Is to just hologram you so when you come in your room the hologram me will be creepily waiting." her hologram says clasping her hands together.
I roll my eyes; while laughing at her. I sit down in from of the hologram coming from my tablet.
"I know. You don't understand. I saw a lot of things in that fortune that changes my life. Yours too!" I say pointing to her.
"Like what!? Ooh, I know. You fall in love with me, but then I fall in love with Zecktar Blake. While your heart is crushed; we run off in the sunset?" Madison babbles on and on.
"Really? That's what you came up with." I say; shaking my head.
"What! Everyone loves me. It's an obvious answer." she says; laughing.
I laugh along with her.
"This is why we are best friends, but no. I'll explain everything later." I say to her.
"Maddie! Mom and Dad said to come here! They need to talk to us!" Faith yells.
Madison rolls her eyes.
"I'm coming! Ugh, I have to go. Though, don't think this over. I want all the details. Mwah." Madison's holograms fades away.
I plop down on my hover bed.
What a day.
I overthink for what feels like hours about everything that happened. To my parents not actually being dead, to human Madison actually being an alien, and how badly the aliens thought of humans. When now we are practically holding a festival in honor of humans. I don't know if I should believe it, but every time I've been to Fiona the fortune were always right. What if this one time that's not the case, or what if there's a way I can prevent all that from happening. This was supposed to be the night I found out if I was going to be famous.
Like the beloved warrior Zecktar Blake.. sigh.
This was supposed to be the best birthday of my life, but it's just sending down a hole of unknown and confusion. I hear the familiar voice of the our house.
"Door opened by Auntie Yumina."
I jump off my bed. Letting my sickness feet hit the cold wood. Thinking about everything that confusion soon turns to anger as I storm down the stairs. I get downstairs and start smelling my favorite meal from the kitchen. The closer I get the more I can hear the soft music that just happens to be my favorite song. I get to the kitchen and my Aunt is facing the sink with her back against me. Without turning around she says to me:
"Heler, I think it's time we had a talk." she says in a serious yet nervous tone.
I stay quiet; looking at the back of her head. She turns around and her eyes are glistening with tears she's trying to hold back.
"Good because I have a lot of questions and only you have the answer." I say; crossing my arms over my chest.
That's it guys. That is my book. I'm not sure how I feel, but for one I feel accomplished. I finished my first book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay... might have gone a litttle over board on the exclamation marks. However, I feel really good. I know it's a short story, but it's a start. I know the last chapter is pretty short, but I want to keep some suspense/curiosity just in case I change my mind on the future of this book. Now, that's finished I'm going to try to put it in some contests. Though, I appreciate everyone that has read my book. Especially those who have read every chapter. All votes, comments and shares are appreciated. Back to school pretty soon, so it's a good way to end break. Also, I would love if you guys would recommend some good books. Once again thanks for all support.
