I have barely slept this night. Lying on an uncomfortable couch and with my girl it is a little narrow. She is still sleeping on me and I enjoy watching and holding her. Most of all I can smell her and kiss her.
I close my eyes in panic by the sound of footsteps from the floor above. Dammit, Riley should have gone back up to her room. I can feel my heart beating, hard and harder for every step that person takes, down the stairs, but then it stops.
Oh, god, I am so dead. I keep on pretending that I am sleeping, but then Riley chuckles.
"What's so funny?" Devin wonder and she seems amused by her daughters laugh.
"You are scaring, Drew." She laughs and Devin snort. My cheeks have never been so red as they are now. I take the duvet over the both of us to hide. Riley keeps her eyes closed so I won't see them.
"How did you know I was scared?" I ask a little annoyed that she just told her mom.
"I could hear your heart." She chuckles and I roll my eyes.
"Your parents makes me nervous." I whisper and Riley just keeps laughing of me.
"Don't be scared, they like you." She smiles as she kisses my cheek.
"No, no I don't think so." I say while wrinkling my nose.
"Yes, we do." My eyes widen by Andi's voice, which is right next to us. No, no, no, this so awkward. Riley pushes down the duvet. Oh god.
"Hi." I smile to Andi, feeling my whole face on fire.
"Good morning." She smiles and then step into the kitchen, where Devin is making some noises. Probably making breakfast.
"Sunglasses?" Riley asks as she reaches out her hand.
"Sure." I smile as I pick them up from the floor and then put them on her.
"Did you sleep well?" She asks.
"Umm." I suck at lying.
"You didn't?" She says and I take a deep breathe.
"No, not really." I answer honestly.
"Was it my fault?" She asks and my eyes widen.
"No, it was the couch." I explain as I sit on the edge listening to how back cracks. I smile as I feel Riley wrap her arms around my stomach and rest her chin on my shoulder. I lean back into her and kiss her cheek.
"You can sleep in my bed later if you want to?" She offers with her cute smile.
"Only if you lay there with me." I grin.
"Don't think I'm allowed." She says and I nod to her words, dammit, I forget it too often.
"Okay." I answer and kiss her forehead.
After eating breakfast, I am now outside raking leaves with Devin. She asked me to help and I couldn't say no. Even though I can barely stand on my feet anymore.
I am so tired and exhausted that I could just lay down in the pile of leaf we have made in the last few hours. Now that the autumn is here, it's cold, but there is this horrible wind as well.
"Can I ask you something?" Devin says, and I look at her with a nod.
"Where did you apply for college?" She asks, taken me aback.
"The closet city." I answer, and look back down at the ground, frighten about what is going to come out of her mouth now.
"Well, that it's not that close." She says and I see the apologetic smile on her face.
"I know." I sigh, just thinking about how it will be to live so far away from Riley next year. If she still wants me then.
Devin takes the hint that I don't want to talk about so she just lets it go. My body wants to shut down soon. My eyes stings so much that I rub them constantly.
"Drew," Devin takes my attention.
"Just go inside and get some sleep, before you fall apart." She tells me, but I shake my head.
"No, I'm fine." I smile, but Devin rolls her eyes.
"Get in or I will kick you in." She says firmly.
"Um, o-okay." I say, a little intimated by her strict voice. I smile to her though, before I find my way inside. I don't see Riley, but there are noises in the kitchen so I find my way in there.
"Oh, hi." Andi smile to me, but then it fades.
"Just go and lie down for a bit. Riley is in her room, so you find her there." She smiles and start cleaning again.
"Okay, thanks." I tell her and then step up to Riley's room where music is the first thing that comes to my ears. I stand in the doorframe looking at the blond beauty that is lying on her bed, reading or maybe doing some homework.
It's not easy to see when her gorgeous, tiny body is in the way. I smile, of the view as I find my way over to her. Then I lay over her back.
"Hi." She chuckles.
"Hi, to you too." I say as I lean forward to kiss her cheek.
"What are you doing?" I wonder, looking at the book that is lying in front of her.
"Just reading." She smiles and I watch the dots that she moves her finger over.
"How do you know what letter is which?" I ask confused as I stare at it.
"Well, this is an A." She shows me and it's only one dot.
"Oh, okay." I smile and then lay my finger, lightly over hers. She moves her hand away so I can feel the dot under my own.
"This is an i." She steal my hand to lay it over the three dots.
"Yeah, it's almost shaped like it as well." I smile.
"I'm just going to lay here with you for a while." I say as I rest my cheek on her shoulder and lay my hands on her waist. She jumps as I moved them under her shirt.
"Your hands are cold." She chuckles.
"Sorry." I snort as I take them off her, but lay them back over her shirt.
"I'm just going to sleep." I mumble with my eyes closed.
"Okay." She says and steal one of my hands in hers. I smile after she kissed it.
