The day after we came back home to Riley's house, we both got sick. Her cousin managed to infect us with her cold. I don't have the energy to drive home and I don't want to either. I just want to lie here in bed with my girl. Holding onto her, but she is under the duvet so I can't nuzzle her in the hair. Which annoys me so much.
"Babe, why are you lying under the duvet?" I ask as I try to push down the cover, but she holds onto it.
"I'm freezing." She shiver.
"Then let me hold you."
"No, you are not warm enough." Riley says and I clench my teeth, offended.
"Fine, if I am not good enough, then find someone else." I mutter, turning my back to her and lay further in the bed so my head is laying onto the wall.
"Drew," She sigh and I feel her shift in the bed and wrap her arm around me.
"I'm sorry, but I feel so horrible." She says and I roll my eyes.
"How do you think I feel?" I mutter and clear my sore throat. This whole sickness thing is killing me. I have no energy, and my body hurts.
"I'm sorry." She says. I try to ignore her, but I can't stop the smile that comes on my face when she kisses my neck. She does it repeatedly, causing me to laugh.
"Okay, okay," I turn around to face her.
"I love you, gorgeous." I say, watching her cheeks redden.
"Can I ask you something?" I wonder as I stroke her cheek with my fingers, feeling how warm she is, just like I am.
"Yes." She answers, nervously.
"You remember the day I begged you to open your eyes in the living room at your grandparent's house?" I ask and she nods. I chew on my lower lip for a while.
"If there is anything you want to ask me or to do, then tell me." I explain her and swallow hard of worry if there is something wrong. Riley is breathing lightly and I feel like she is staring at me with her honey eyes, but I know she can't see me. No matter how much the both of us wish that. She bites on her lower lip, thoughtfully.
"N-next year." She trembles, but her words just confuse me.
"What?" I ask, still touching her cheek, but then I watch a tear come out of her eye.
"Hey," I wrap my arm around her and kiss the tear away from her skin.
"I love you," I reminded her as she rubs her eye and sniff.
"And you can tell me anything. I don't want you to be scared or sad." I say, brushing her hair behind her ear.
"It's your last year at high school and my first, you know what I mean." She tells me and breathes out sadly. I chew on my lip, knowing it's going to be rough after the summer. I'm moving to the city while she is going to be here. Two years I am going to be away and we have to live hours from each other. It will be very hard to know I might not even see her every weekend. The last thing I want is to lose her. I love her and just being away from her for an hour kills me. This is going to hurt like never before.
"I know, but that does not mean I would leave you," I kiss on her forehead.
"I love you Riley and I will stay with you no matter what." I promise her with my whole heart, since she is it.
"I hope that is true." She says sadly. Making me close my eyes with a painful sigh.
"Of course it's true, baby." I say, leaning my forehead on hers.
"I didn't fall in love with you, just so I could leave you." I say encouraging, but no matter what I tell her, she just won't smile to me. I take a deep breath and just hold onto her as I nuzzle the top of her head. I am going to miss this, every day when I am not with her.
"Don't let me stop loving you." I whisper, and shiver a little as she moves her cold hand under my shirt on my back.
"I promise." She breathes.
