I jump up and down in the bathroom. My heart is beating so fast, because today is probably the scariest day of my life. At least one of them.
My girlfriend is coming over to my house, not just that. Her parents as well. Mom and dad said it was fine that I could go with Riley to her grandparents and the rest of the family, but only if they could meet her and her parents.
Still, I haven't said one word about Riley to my parents, except her name. I am not sure if I should tell them that she can't see. Maybe I should, because, well I don't want them to act more awkward than they are going to do, especially my mom. It's like her mouth is living on its own. Can't believe how many words that comes out of that mouth.
I take a deep breath before I get out of the bathroom. It's not long until they'll be here so I better give mom and dad heads up about Riley. There are sounds in the kitchen so I follow that. I smile as I see them both are making food, something nice for our visitors.
"Can I talk to you guys for a moment?" I wonder, watching them turn around to look at me.
"Sure, honey." Dad smiles as he dries his hands with a cloth.
"Umm," I lean on the door frame, thinking how to start this.
"Riley, she is very special in every way, but," I lay weight on my last word, which makes them narrow their eyes in confusion.
"There is one thing you should know," I swallow hard as I chew on my lower lip.
"Riley, she can't see." I tell them nervously. Dad leans on the bench.
"What do you mean, Drew?" Mom asks me, not entirely following. I sigh as I itch the back of my neck.
"Riley, can't see." I say again annoyed that they don't understand. This time dad's eyes widen, realizing what I mean.
"Oh." Dad says, sounding surprised as he meets eyes with mom.
"We didn't expect that," Mom smile as she comes towards me taking my hands in hers.
"But it's amazing that you care for someone so special." She says, warmly and she leans down to kiss my forehead.
"She is very special." I smile.
Riley's and her parents came for a half an hour ago. She and I are just, listening to them talking. Riley is sitting in between her moms, while I am sitting in a chair, staring at her.
My eyes just have to find her. She is way too beautiful to not be looked at. Everything seems to be okay in here. I mean, our parents seems to like each other, which is very good for Riley and I, because that means I can come with her to celebrate Christmas.
Maybe it is the best gift I can get. Now they are talking about me going with them to Riley's grandparents and the rest of the family. What I have learned is that Riley's family is big and that makes me a little nervous. There will be many new faces and a lot of names to remember.
"Drew!" I jump in my seat by mom shouting my name.
"Huh, what?" I ask a little dazed. They are all trying to hide their laugh. Even my girl, which makes me roll my eyes with red cheeks.
"I was telling you that we all think it is okay that you go with them." She smiles and I smile brighter to that as I turn to look at Riley. Oh, how I wish to kiss her right now. How can that gorgeous girl be sitting on that couch and not on my lap.
"Can't wait to go." I smile looking at Riley, who grin to my words, showing me her adorable dimples. Can't believe that girl with the blond silky hair, with softest voice I have ever heard and with that beautiful smile is mine.
"Then you better start packing, we are leaving tomorrow." Devin says, taking my attention.
"Yeah, I'll go now." I nod as I stand up.
"Can I come?" I smile to my girl's question.
"Of course you can." I say as I step over to take her hand in mine to help her. She hasn't been here before so she do not know where to go, like she do at home. I close the door once we get into my bedroom and I put my hands on her waist.
"I have been dying to kiss you." I whisper as I lean my forehead on hers and I can feel her hands on my collar bones, grabbing my T-shirt.
"Then why are you not doing it already?" She asks impatiently, which makes me chuckle.
"I just want to look at you for a moment." I smile and kiss her forehead. Then I see her cheeks change color.
"You are cute when you blush." I chuckle, lightly, watching how her nose wrinkles of annoyance.
"You are not getting a kiss now." She says, pushing me back, smiling teasingly. I laugh of her cuteness and steal a kiss.
"Hey!" She shout as I move over to my closet and look for some cloths. Then I feel Riley come behind me, wrapping her arms around my stomach.
"Thank you." She murmurs and kiss my shoulder.
"For what?" I ask confused as I take out some pants and warm sweaters. It's very cold outside now and I bet the snow might come soon.
"That you want to come." She says, pressing her cheek against my back. Riley lets me go as I turn around to her.
"I'm sorry that I have been an asshole lately, but you mean so much to me and to see your eyes would mean everything to me." I tell her, biting my lower lip. Nervous about how she will react to my words. She turns her head to the side as if she ignores me. I sigh lightly as I throw the clothes on the bed.
"Riley," I put my hands on her waist.
"I am just being honest with you." I say, putting my lips on her cheek, which is faced to me to kiss her.
"You mean the world to me, and I am sorry if my wish is too much to ask for." I whisper on her warm skin. I breathe in her gorgeous smell as I kiss her one more time.
"Please, don't be angry with me now." I beg. Riley takes a big breath as she turns back to face me. I wait for her to say something, anything, but she just wraps her arms around my neck, holding me tightly with her forehead resting on my chest.
"I'm not angry," She whispers and I sigh to her soft hands moving on the back of my neck.
"I just want to see you." Riley tells, making me hold her around the waist.
"I know. I'm sorry." I say, kissing her on the top of her head. It's like I can feel her pain, and I hate how much she is aching.
