First before I get into this from my point of view and understanding you need to know where this is coming from. When I was taking my English A 30 course we cover Canadian writing and authors. Every week my teacher gave us free writing time, which we were given a word or two or a state meant. So this short writing is from two different free writing times.
My teacher Mr. Allen asked the Class what does Canadian mean? We all took it from different ways of writing and this is how I took it; What is Canadian? Canadian is a nation of people that come from all over. We enjoy sports and Tim Hortans. Free to speak our minds and stand up for what is right. Canadians are people who welcome those in need. We value safety of our people and the education for our children. We are able to adapt to all of our climate changes that Canada has to offer. The food we eat shows our cultures that have came together. We favour some cultures over others but by the end of the say we are all equal. Canadian's have health care and clean fresh water. We all like to live near so much fresh water. Our government tries their best but still mess up at times. Our government pays those who need the help. This is my understand of it.
Canadian Identity poem
Red and white binds you,
The leaf holds you close.
As you bear the weather,
Mother Nature will try to break you,
But you stand tall with Pride.
Pride you will carry,
From the west coast to the east coast.
You see us all cheer and hold each other up.
12 Provinces and 3 Territories hold,
Cultures close and welcome new ones.
A multicultural country and vast languages.
The Identity comes from my Country,
Comes from the cultures around me.
Comes from how we act.
With our humour, with our pride.
Our love of Timmy's,
We care for each other.
We stand tall with pride and honor,
Our troops watching out for us and others.
We lend a helping hand,
To those who need it in other countries.
I could go on and on about this topic. One thing I know is when we travel to different places my history teacher told us that our flag is noticed when we wear it. Our Country flag is part of the Canadians Identity.
