Aden's POV

"So how was it?" Dad asks eagerly.

"Fine, I guess" I reply

"Oh come on tell me about it. Was the principal nice?" He continues prying. I feel the car turn as I put my elbow on the door arm rest right below the window.

I smile "Yeah she's cool, she has a weird nephew though." I catch my words as they come out my mouth. Why am I thinking about him?

"Her nephew? Was that the kid that came out of the building with you?"

"Yeah" I scoff

"The kid seems nice. I'm sensing a new friendship in the future" dad jokes

I knew bring him up was a bad idea. "No dad we will never be friends, I mean the guy is just... Just.... Well I don't know, I just don't like him."

"Hm you know the best friendships come from people that don't have anything in common, that whole 'opposites attract' kinda thing"

"Eww.....Oh my god DAD! That's a saying that applies for dating not friends, Eww." I gagged at the thought. There are so many things wrong with that statement. First of all, who would want to be friends with that guy much less date him.

"Hey son I didn't say anything about dating, that was all you. And even if you did like him like that I wouldn't be upset, I'll love you either way."

Hold up, how did this turn into a talk about me being gay? Which I'm not. Not that I know of. I mean...forget it, I AM NOT GAY.

"Dad I'm not ga..."

"We're Home!" Dad says excitedly, interrupting my declaration.

I unbuckled my seat belt and opened the door to the car. I got out and felt the ground below me. Although it wasn't necessary Dad had installed a textured tile path from the car to the front door so I could get to the door faster. With that I could feel the pattern and didn't have trouble getting to the door. This house was so new for me so any little thing helps I guess. Mom also added runners and door mats with different feels in different rooms so I would know each room by the mats feel. The house is a ranch style which I like, honestly falling down the stairs is one of my biggest fears. It's funny that I hate stairs so much considering how often I had to use them back home in New York, but fear shouldn't rule anyone's life.

I walked in the front door, the smell of moms vegetable and tofu pot pie hit my nose. I'll be honest moms tofu pot pie is pretty awesome. I walk into the kitchen in anticipation for dinner. I hear my mom humming. "Mom?"

"Oh baby you're back! Hungry?" I say yes "Foods almost ready" she replies happily

Later the food was ready, we sat down at the table as we always do the only difference was dad was home. He could go to the base everyday and come home every night. No more Skyping and letters and 'I miss you's. I feel so good to have everything back to normal. At dinner dad bantered back and forth with me and mom, we laughed at his stupid jokes and funny story's. I missed this while he was gone and I'm sure mom did too.

The Next Day

I hear my alarm "BEEP BEEP BEEP today is January 23rd, time is 6:00 am BEEP BEE..." I hit the off button before I have to hear that horrible beeping again. I get up reluctantly, and shuffle to my bathroom.
