A/N: Sorry shorter chapters till I get a new phone.Blair's face said it all. Don't tell him.
If I'd told him would he believe me over his 'little girl'? He'd most likely put a gun down my throat. But what if he did believe me? In some ways that was more horrifying. Not for me but for the red head sitting next to me. The fear I held for this place was temporary but for her it was daily. She told me he'd kick her out but what if he doesn't? What if her abuse just exellates?
"I don't know sir it just happened." It was the only excuse I could think of under the pressure.
"Just happened? JUST HAPPENED? You know that's twice in a row a Hunter had causes me trouble. You and your father both screwin' me over."
What? It was a strange thing to hear from the man as far as I knew my dad and the sheriff were friends.
"My father?"
"Yeah the bastard's been skimmin' off the top. Now I got the big city FED's up my ass askin' for all my files and traipsing through my god damn town."
"Fed's?" My brain was having a hard time processing a the new information.
I glanced at Blair. She kept her head down but didn't seem to know what her dad was talking about either.
"Ya know back in my day taking a extra bonus home was standard it was a perk of the job you could say but ya dad was never to acquainted with the word moderation. I hope he rots in jail for all the trouble he's caused me. I could lose my job." He admitted, obviously intoxicated and without any filter.
How could I digest that kind of revelation?
Before I could say anything Blair cut in.
"Daddy what are you talking about!? How could you!" She raised her voice obvious forgetting 'her place'.
"How could I?! How could I?! You fucking ungrateful slut! I did every thing for this family! I've slaved away making a better life for you and your sister and that's the thanks I get. You thing your fancy bougie ass shit comes on a sheriff's salary alone princess? Fuck no it don't, that's the answer. And you..."
He pointed to me in his drunken slur."You're fuckin with the wrong family comin in here actin all high and mighty with your fancy clothes and noise pollutin car. You thing you're better than me? Huh?!" He yelled picking up the shot gun and pointing across the table.
I was stuck frozen in my seat. Blair franticly flailed begging her father to put the gun away but he didn't budge. He had it square to my forehead and then Blair did someone I never saw coming.
She leapt for the gun. In a blur of plates crashing and scuffling body's the gun went off.
It was two, three seconds at most but it felt like forever. They both went to the floor. I broke from my daze and went to untangle the two. There was blood on the floor.
I couldn't breathe.
First I heard Blair grunt as I rolled her over then I saw the blood on her dress.
It's wasn't how it was supposed to go.
She was going to live a good life, have the baby and be a mom. I know I wasn't all for it and she not a good person but this wasn't right, she doesn't deserve to die. It broke me up inside. Just when I thought I'd lose it she opened her eyes and looked at me.
"Nick..."
"What?" I said holding back tears.
"Nick..."
"Yeah?" I said in almost a wimpier.
"Do... Do I have blood on my dress?"
"Huh?"
"Well I just bought it and I don't want it to stain but I guess it's ruined huh?"
Thats the moment I realized I got sad way too soon... She was just fine. But then where did the blood come from?
I looked at her father, beside her.
The left upper side of his shoulder was bloodied. Nothing life threatening but definitely painful. He was knocked out cold from the looks of it so I took that chance to get out of there.
I stood up.
"Where are you going?" Blair whined.
"Home I guess."
"Take me with you, please! You know he won't forgive me when he wakes up."
Fuck my life. "Come on."
"I need to get another dress first."
"Do you really?"
"Do you want to explain to people why my dress is covered in blood?"
No but I also don't wanna be killed by psycho-dad. "Get it fast. I'll be in the car."
She started to make her way up the stairs then paused "I'm sorry." She said almost in a whisper but before I could find out why, she was gone.
I got in my car, turned on my engine and scanned the radio. She was out the door and in my car in minutes with a medium sized bag.
I raced off their driveway and back onto the rode.
