Aden's POV

"I begged your..." Nick starts.

"I heard you the first time. How did you just assume I would still like you?" I know it's sweet that Nick called my parents behind my back but he didn't know if I'd take him back. It's a romantic gesture and I do love him but it's also, I don't know. Weird?

"Well it all worked out in the end right." He says trying to reassure me.

"I guess but what would you have done if I didn't take you back? Stalk me?"

"I'd..."

"Are you seriously upset about this?" Mom cuts in.

"But mom if he..."

"No more 'what if's' in this house hold! I swear you're sounding more and more like you're father by the day. Nick likes you and he's done more than enough to prove it and you certainly like his with the amount of pouting you've been putting your poor mother through in the past three weeks."

Damn my mom was serious, I know cause her usual light New Jersey accent was coming on strong. She is rarely this upset with me.

"It's ok M...Mrs. Watt, I should have asked Aden's permission first before talking to you guys." Nick retorts. It's cute how he can't bring himself to say my mom's first name.

"Nick you have nothing to be apologizing for, Aden was barred from speaking to you at the time. You went about everything perfectly and you're quite the romantic if I may say so myself. My son's just become overly suspicious like James."

"Someone say my name?" My dad says like on one of those stupid 80's family sitcoms only with much less excitement in his voice and he's not rewarded with some force applause, nope, just tense uncomfortable silence. The boom of his strong steps strike the floor and enter my ears as he wonders over increasing the tense atmosphere. I instinctively bite my lip at his presence, anticipating a fight to break out.

"Nothing hun, Aden's just being silly. Oh and Nick is here." Mom replies.

"Hello sir it's nice seeing you again." Nick says.

Everyone's being so civil despite my expectations, now dad is going to blow up and ruin everything. Nicks hand slips back into mine and my anxiety immediately decreases slightly.

"Nice to see you too Nick. You didn't make any stops on the way here right?" Dad says calmly, surprising me. I know Nick said he talked to my dad but honestly I was expecting my father to pounce on him like a leopard with a cornered fawn.

"No sir. We came straight over." Nick replies with a cheerful voice.

"Good good, well you're welcome to stay for dinner. You a basketball fan? UCLA versus Kansas is on."

"I'm more into football but I'd love too stay for dinner. Thank you sir." I raise an eyebrow, when did these two get so chummy? Not that I'm mad I'm just curious.

Mom butts in. "You're too polite Nick. I don't know what you see in my Aden to make you put up with these two." Mom says referring to me and dad. Hey she didn't need to throw my under the bus like that but I guess she's right.

"It's really no trouble, I'm just in love ma'am."

Fuck fuck fuck stop being so sweet! I'm blushing, goddamnit.

"Aww my baby's in love, you hear that James?!"

"Yes Mel I heard, I'm standing right here."

"Don't get smart with me mister or no dessert for you." Mom says to dad.
