I Love You

Chapter Five - An Exciting Lunch

You walk to lunch.

As you pass your original lunch table and group, Pippa gives you a little wink.

You give a thumbs up and smile at them, as you make your way towards Lin's table.

You arrive at his table, only to see that he's not there.

"That's weird.", you say to yourself. "I'm pretty sure we were set to meet at lunch again today."

You wait about 5 minutes and say to yourself, "Where is he?"

You decide to go to your lunch group and ask them.

"Have any of you guys seen Lin?", you ask, as you approach them.

"No... I haven't. I'm sorry.", Jon answers.

"I haven't since calculus this morning.", Chris says. "Sorry."

Pippa looks around for him and asks, "Did he say to meet him at lunch today?"

"Yeah, he texted me this morning.", you say, as you look around.

"Well, that's weird.", Chris says.

You look down in disappointment. You were really looking forward to talking to Lin more.

Suddenly, a bunch of smiles come across Pippa, Jon, and Chris's faces.

You look at them weirdly, as they try to hold in their laughs.

"What is it?", you finally ask.

Pippa gestures you to turn around, and look behind you.

You do as Pippa says, and you find Lin standing there, with a bouquet of flowers, and a guitar.

You gasp at the sight, and stand there speechless and motionless.

Lin sings "Seasons of Love" to you from Rent.

You knew it was one of his favorite Broadway shows.

You are ready eyed, as he performs for you.

"Seasons of love.", he sings, and finishes.

At the end of the song, he kneels down in front of your chair.

He takes your hands and says, "I know we just met up again like yesterday, but I wanted to tell you that I really like you. I've liked you since we met in elementary school."

You laugh a bit through your tears, because you feel the exact same way.

He continues, "So, will you except this proposal, and go to homecoming with me?"

He looks into your eyes, a bit teary eyed.

You can see a little bit of worry in his expression.

You knew he was nervous, because his hands were shaking.

It took a little bit to process everything, but you finally say, "Yes. I will go to homecoming with you."

You hug each other. Both of you crying.

His embrace is tight, and it is warm in his arms.

You don't want to let go.

Everyone in the cafeteria is cheering.

Pippa, Jon, and Chris are crying.

It is the perfect moment.

Lin is finally yours, and you couldn't be any happier.
