I Love You

Chapter Nine - Homecoming

Saturday morning.

9:30 A.M.

Today is homecoming.

You got up, and had a normal breakfast.

You get yourself a bowl, and some Lays Potato Chips.

You sit on the couch, and grab a blanket to pull up, if you get cold.

You spend your day binge watching "Gilmore Girls" on Netflix.

Your mom joins you midday, after she is done doing household chores.

"You excited for tonight?", your mom asks you.

"Yes.", you reply. "I'm super excited."

"Then why aren't you bouncing from wall to wall right now?", your mom jokes.

"Because!", you defend yourself. "I need to save my energy for tonight!"

"Okay, I get it!", your mom says, laughing.

You two binge watch until it is time to get dressed.

6:00 P.M.

Lin arrives at the door.

He is wearing a nice suit, and has a wrist corsage for you in his hand.

Your mom answers the door and let's him inside.

"(Y/N)! Lin is here!", she yells up the stairs.

"I'll be there in a couple of minutes!", you respond.

You put the finishing touches on your makeup, and make sure everything is perfect before you go downstairs.

You walk downstairs, and see Lin looking at you with stunned eyes.

"Wow... You look amazing.", he says, almost speechless.

"Thank you.", you say laughing. "You look good yourself."

"Picture time!", your mom says.

You both smile for the picture.

Lin looks down at his watch.

"We're going to be late for dinner.", he says.

"Oh, we gotta get going then.", you say back.

Your mom smiles, and you exchange goodbyes.

You go and have a lovely dinner with Lin, as you catch up with each other even more.

8:30 P.M.

You are at the school, jamming out to your favorite tunes.

Pippa comes and hugs you from behind.

You look back and exclaim, "Hey!"

"You look gorgeous!", she says back.

"Thank you! You look great too!", you say.

A slow song comes on.

"I'll leave you to it!", she says winking. "Have fun!"

You smile as she leaves.

You and Lin dance to the slow dance.

By the end of the dance, you are looking into each other's eyes.

He leans forward, and kisses you.

You kiss back, as the fireworks are going off in your head.

He pulls back and smiles. You smile back.

After a little while, you excuse yourself to the bathroom.

Pippa and Jon are there, waiting for updates.

"How's homecoming going for you?", Jon asks you.

"Good! And you?", you reply.

"Pretty good... considering I wasn't planning on going.", Jon responds.

"Any updates?", Pippa asks, laughing a bit.

"He kissed me!", you exclaim.

"What?!", Jon and Pippa both say at the same time.

"How was it?", Jon asks curiously.

"It was perfect.", you reply. "I saw fireworks and everything."

"Holy crap! It's true love!", Pippa exclaims.

You laugh.

"You should probably go back out there.", Jon suggests. "He's probably wondering where you've been."

"Okay, but I'll keep you guys updated.", you say as you run out of the bathroom.

You meet up with Lin again, and you dance some more.

"Now it's time to announce the Homecoming King and Queen.", the principal says through a microphone.

You stand still on the stage, nervously.

"The school has voted.", he continues.

You wait impatiently --- the seconds of silence feels like years.

"Your Homecoming King is... Lin-Manuel Miranda!", the principal exclaims.

"And your Homecoming Queen is... (Y/N)!", the principal exclaims.

You stand there in shock as the past reigning queen puts your crown on.

You smile out into the crowd, who is cheering for you.

You did it! You are the Homecoming Queen!
