Chapter 16 - Second Try's a Charm pt.3

Lucy's POV

At the top of the stairs, and after lots of huffing and puffing, there was another set of double doors, but this time they were emerald. The woman reached out and before opening the doors turned and asked, "Are you sure you want to go in?" By this point I was getting a little annoyed. Looking straight back into her brown eyes I replied "yes, we are sure".

Slowly the doors opened, green light flooding the stairwell, and the dizzying smell from before was clearing. Slowly we enter the room we had been looking for.

We wander, looking around the enchanting room, it's so green, and sparkly, and-
"Who DARES to enter my lair?" a booming voice cuts me off mid thought. All 5 of us suddenly face the voice and are frozen. A fog covers the floor and as it slowly rises, a giant floating head appeared in front of us.

For some reason, this did not creep any of us out.

"Answer me!" the voice demanded. And in a very meek voice, Levy stepped up, "we are uh here to see if it's okay for you to uh, well, if you could grant some of our wishes? you see you are the al powerful wizard and we were just hoping..." I tapped her on the back, letting her know that he got the message.

The was a silence.

"I will consider your wishes" The terrifying voice paused (for dramatic effect I guess) "IF you can bring the demise of the Wicked Witch of the West"

Oddly enough this voice, though all the words said were in a harsh tone, the voice seemed to remind me someone kind and caring, but also sad, hurting and bringing nostalgia. With each weight of the words the wizard spoke, I felt myself grow frustrated for not being able to place the voice.

"Before you go" the voice warned "visit the Good Witch of the East, she may be able to help you defeat the most feared witch in all of Oz" The five us us made eye contact and all gave each other a look that basically said "yeah we are doing this" and with that we all left the wizards lair.

Once in the stairwell we realized that our guide had gone missing. Helpful. We began to walk down the stairs that seemed to go on for days but before even getting down three steps, out of the corner of my eye I noticed Levy walking over to some door farther down the wall. I too grew curious what the door led to so I went over and joined her.

"What did you find?" I asked hoping I wouldn't startle her for she seemed very focused. She jumped a little and faced me

"Well I think I found an elevator" she explained pointing at the buttons next to the door, one with an arrow pointing up and the other down. Suddenly a 'ding!' was heard and and the door had a green light glowing between the cracks of the door causing us to pull the door open.

Jet, Droy, and Gajeel realized that we had stopped to investigate and were making their way over to us.

And down the elevator they went, complaining the whole way down about how that woman was a jerk for making the group of 5 walk up all the way up the stairs that seemed to go on forever.
