"Bye mom! Love you!" I exclaimed as I attempted to walk out of our little car.

'Honey, I love you. I'm sorry we had to move so far though, I didn't mean to put you through all the stress of leaving your friends." Mom said as she grabbed my arm. Her eyes looked genially concerned and her short fluffy brown hair bounced on her shoulders.

'Not that I had any friends to start with..." I mumbled to myself.

"What was that honey?"

"Nothing mom! But, I'm going to go now. Love you! Bye!" I almost shouted. I was struggling to get away so I wasn't that weird new kid like at my old school. Back in Edmonton nobody like hang out with me because I was different. It was probably because of the first day of school and my encounter with Chris. I gave my mom a small smile before I pulled away and mentally readied myself to see what this life would bring me. It would be a hard new life. We moved halfway across the country to get here. It was all because mom didn't like her old job, and then dad and her got a divorce, and now it's a strange new world in a small, new town.

Everything was already way stranger then it seemed. As soon as I stepped out of the car I gasped. I saw a giant new Highschool. Immediately I started to think about how I was never going to make friends or I won't catch up in all the classes. The stress was getting to me. I took a deep breath and realized I didn't know what to do. Should I go up to someone to ask where the Principal's office was, or should I just wonder the halls until I stumble against the office.

Apparently I didn't have to think to hard because I bumped into a girl walking with a group of people. She was in the middle of a conversation and was bobbing her little brown hair as she told the other people on her group about who knows what.

Suddenly I felt myself almost fly through the air and land with a thud on the ground. A millisecond later the girl I bumped into landed onto of me. Slowly she rolled off me and soon enough we were both laying side by side in the middle of the hallway. 'What a great first impression Misty.' I angrily though to myself. Surprisingly I started to hear a loud laugh coming from the girl beside me. I honestly thought she would be yelling at me, I thought I would make an enemy. And it seemed like everyone would have witnessed my embarrassing moment. But her laugh was contagious and I started laughing with this strange child too. I bet everyone though we were crazy as we lay in the middle of the hallway laughing.

"Ha, oh my. You sure know how to make a first impression don't you? By the way, I'm Avery." The girl said as she started to try to make her way up.

"I'm Misty." I replied shyly. Suddenly I was pulled off the ground from the strong hands of Avery. "Great to meet you. Now, you are lucky you bumped into me. All the other kids would probably have eaten you alive by now. And since your new, I'll take you to the Principal's office."

"Thanks." I replied, I know that I seem shy, but it was weird to me to have someone be so nice to me from the kindness of their hearts. Avery had started a conversation that she would mostly say the words, of course there would be a few grunts from me, yet still her stories were incredibly interesting. I decided that she was a great person to have made friends with on the first day. "And that's the story of when my best friend decided to kiss my three month long boyfriend. Anyway, here is the office."

"Thanks so much Avery, maybe we can meet up later, at lunch maybe, or something like that..." Grrrrrrr, I thought to myself as I annoyingly babbled my reply. But instead of making something of it Avery just laughed and said sure. I knew now that this was the meeting with the principal.

I opened the door to the principal's office with a deep breath.  A grumpy looking old man stood there rumaging through files.

"Misty? Misty..." He said trying to find my last name without looking up. I looked around the office.

"Uhhhh Misty Evans." I replied approaching the desk. He shot his head up and fixed his glasses.

"Evans?! Oh dear. Well the Principal is just in there she shouldn't be doing anything right now if it isn't scolding those misfits that go to the school." He nudged his little head in that direction already looking back to his files.

"Uh-Thank you. I guess." I took a shaky breath and opened the door.

"How can I help you?"

"I'm Misty-" Immediately the young blonde hair (which was in a bun) woman smiled and pushed her glasses up on her nose.

"Ah. I would like to give you a run down on being here at this school. I am your friend. You can trust me. But using who you are," she raised an eyebrow, "in a bad way will have consequences do you understand?" She said and I merely nodded. "Good just pick up a map on your way out. By the way, day one you can explore make friends feel welcome! Day two, don't be late." She said sternly. "Now have fun, bye!" All the sternest had evaporated. I stood up, grabbed a map and went to go and find Avery.
