I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and yawned. It was never fun to wake up, I agreed with myself. I pulled myself out of bed and went down the stairs to see my baby sister slowly teleporting herself to the fridge. A slow chuckle escaped my lips as I snuck up beside her. I grabbed her and she giggled her small baby giggle. I gave her a kiss on the cheek before she disappeared from my arms.
"Terrible twos. I hate them." I muttered to myself before looking for little Ruby everywhere. "Ruby, I'll get you the ice cream if you come out now-" I began to call and she immediately appeared in my arms. Except I drew a small salt circle.
She turned to face me her face sad and disappointed. "Me go-" She said quietly. "me go!" She shouted this time. I laughed at her.
"Salt means you can't teleport. I'll still get you the ice cream." Salt was the only weakness for telepoters. It was sad. They can go anywhere as long as there isn't a line of salt blocking them. Suddenly mom appeared in the kitchen her usual line of smoke following her.
"ALEX! Let you baby sister out of the salt circle!" I sighed. Mom always favoured her. And she always took more care of Anne then me. And they always blamed me.
"But mom she was-"
"enough excuses!"
"She can leave whenever she wants! She just can't poof out!"
"You know very well she's scared of salt."
"She was tr-"
"I said no BUTS! I thought you were better then this Alexander." She looked away picking up my little sister. I knew she was mad because she used my full name and nobody every uses my full name. At least she didn't use my last name. My mom huffed as she walked away holding the demon child a.k.a my sister. I could swear my two year old sister stuck her tongue out at me. As she walked away I started to think. What was my power? I hadn't actually discovered it yet and Grade 9 was starting in a week. They were less lenient to no power people and I would have to work harder.
A sigh escaped my lips as I grabbed my bag and walked out of the house going for a bike ride. I didn't know where but I knew I had to get out. I scribbled a note so that mom would know where I went even if she would bother to care, and went outside.
After feeling the wind in my hair and the sun on my skin I pulled to a stop by the highway leading a way out. I slipped behind the trees in the forest and went to the secret pathway to the coves. I pulled my bike behind me before stopping close to a large oak and ran down the rest of the path. The only thing that surprised me was seeing the figure of a young girl with long black hair staring out in the waves twiddling with something in her hands. I slowly creeped up to her trying to see what she was doing before I slipped against a branch causing myself to fall with a thud.
