CHAPTER 35

It was around two hours after that when I explain my whole situation to my family and the only one who wasn't surprised about this was Ruby. But the rest of them? I think they get a while to get used to the idea that I have 'otherworldly' powers and I'm an Oracle, who can single-handedly control Mother Nature with just a thought.

My mother looks perplexed and my father has a look of shock on his face, Ky is staring wide eyed and Emerald is staring blankly at me, I see the clogs turning in her head.

When I finished I had sat next to Xavier, wanting to be near him as much as possible. I already lost him I wasn't going to lose him again. I loved him too much to let that happen.

Xavier welcomed my presence and tightened his hold on my hand, gently running his thumb across my knuckles. As soon as dad sees that motion his expression goes from shock to suspicion, that protective father overshadowing everything else.

Dad's eyes narrow on both our hands and he glance up so his brown eyes land on me. I shrug and smile at him and he switches his gaze to Xavier. Xavier must feel the heat of my father gaze as I feel my chest warm and nervousness and intimidation slivers through me. I giggle and Xavier turns to me and gives me a glare, I bump shoulders with him in a teasing gesture.

I squeeze his hand and turn my head to my father and he's still giving Xavier the stink eye. I roll my eyes and sigh. "Dad, just say what you're going to say and get it over with,"

Dad sits up straighter and points between Xavier and me. "What's going on between you two?"

A laugh escapes my throat and I shake my head in amusement. "Dad...it's pretty obvious what's going on."

Dad narrows his brown eyes and his eyebrows follow into a frown. "How long has this been going on between you two?"

I open my mouth to say something but Xavier interrupts me purposely by clearing his throat, his hand still in mine. "Well, Mr. Reynolds...your daughter and I are, how can I put this? Together? But it's much more than that...we're...it's sort of complicated...in a good way of course...but-"

I put my free hand on his to stop him; he was obviously getting tongue tied in front of my father which was funny considering how confident Xavier was. He never got nervous around my dad before so it was funny to see him lose some composure when it comes to talking directly to him and about this particular subject.

Xavier shoots me a grateful look and we both turn to my dad. I take over, breathing a deep breath, ready for the wrath of my parents that's gonna come down on me.

"Okay, dad...How can I put this? We're together, as in boyfriend and girlfriend as in soul mates as in together." I tell him in a rush, my words almost mashing together.

Dad's holding up his hands prompting me to stop and his face is contorted into what looks like pain. I mean I don't know why, I'm eighteen now. I can have a boyfriend if I want to.
