ϟ ~ ϟ Chapter 6 ϟ ~ ϟ
“Hey, girl. What’s up?” Nancy, one of the cheerleaders asked me whilst smiling.
“I’m okay.”
“Has Chase asked you out yet?” she asked and then Nina, Lucy and Hailey joined in our conversation. They’re also cheerleaders and my friends.
“No, not yet.” I said somewhat sadly.
“What? Is he blind? You’re gorgeous.” She said and I smiled at her while rolling my eyes.
“No seriously Irina. You are.” Hailey added and the other girls nodded their heads as if agreeing.
“Hey am I interrupting anything?” A familiar voice asked making me turn my head around. There he was in all his glory. Chase. He grinned once he caught my stare making me blush and look down.
“No of course not.” Nina said quickly and grabbed the other girls. “We’ll just… leave you two to do… your thing.” She said and they all walked away but not before winking at me. I shook my head at them and turned to look back at Chase.
“So…” he started and kicked his foot on the ground pretending to hit an imaginary ball.
“So…” I said and scratched the back of my head.
“Wanna hang out sometime?” he eventually asked and I did my best to hide the smile that threatened to come out.
“Sure.” I said nonchalantly and he beamed at me.
My life is perfect right now.
Like too perfect.
So, something’s wrong here.
“Hey, Irina.” Chase called in a very mocking voice. I frowned at him. “Watch who you trust.”
“What?”
“You really thought I would ask you out?” I couldn’t answer to that. “Please. I can do so much better than to go out with a girl like you.”
“Huh?”
“You heard me. Hey Nancy!” He called and the girl turned around to face him. “She actually bought it.” He started laughing and then soon every person in the hall joined.
Then all of a sudden each one of them came closer and started beating me up.
“No!” I yelled. “NO!”
“NO!” I woke up and got in a sitting position. I was sweating up and down and I was taking deep breaths. I frantically looked around not at all familiar with the room.
My room is not grey. And it definitely doesn’t smell like a hospital.
Soon the door opened and my mom walked in, finally making my nerves calmed down a little.
“Oh, honey. We were so worried.” She quickly rushed to my side and gave me a side hug, which made me wince in pain. Mom took notice and she pulled away slowly, giving me a worried and disappointing look. “Honey-”
“Mom, I’m fine.” I quickly cut her off and repositioned myself on the bed. “Why am I here?” I asked changing the subject.
“You fainted after that guy-” she stopped taking a few deep breaths. It really seemed difficult for her to continue. “-after that guy beat you up.” She finally finished the sentence. That’s when it hit me. Everything came rushing back. Ricky, the blood, then Jackson, me fainting in his arms and he taking me to the hospital. Everything.
