“Why aren’t they doing anything?” I whispered to Chase next to me while walking through the school halls with everybody’s eyes on me.

“I don’t know.” He whispered back amused and I rolled my eyes at him. I looked around uneasily and decided it’d be better to look at my army boots.

“Why aren’t they coming up to me?” I whispered again completely confused.

“I don’t know?” he retorted again and I scoffed.

“Do you know anything?” I sarcastically asked him again in a low voice. He only chuckled as we continued on our long trip till the lockers.

Once we reached them I looked up only to find the head cheerleader standing next to my locker and I gasped.

“Relax, Irina, I’m not going to slap you or anything.” She said in a, surprisingly, sweet voice and I sighed in relief still cautious about her presence and her knowing my name. “Look, I’m sorry about the prom. I wasn’t in a good mood and I guess I burst my whole anger upon you.” I glanced at her while putting my books in the locker. “So… can you accept my apology?” she asked whilst fidgeting with her top. “For everything?” she added and I couldn’t help but smile.

Holy cow this is weird.

She started shaking her hands from left to right making me raise my eyebrows. “Actually you don’t have to answer right now. I know I have been doing this for a long while, but someone opened my eyes and I found myself thinking what a horrible person I’ve become.” She said more to herself. “And I don’t want to leave high school knowing that I may have made someone else’s life miserable.” She finished and I almost gagged at her.

Oh my God. She’s seriously doing this. Am I dreaming?

“Are you for real?” I asked her dumbfounded completely ignoring that I just talked to her.

Gee girl, you got one hell of a sexy voice there.” She said doing that thing with her eyes as if approving.

“I know right.” Chase murmured from behind and I almost forgot he was here. Maia, her name, grinned at his response and then her face got serious again once she looked at me.

“Yes, I’m for real.”

I looked at her.

And then I looked at her once more.

And then I glanced around me and I saw that every person passing by us was throwing a smile. Not at Chase, not at Maia but at me.

I returned my eyes on the beautiful girl, with dark blue eyes in front of me feeling out of place.

“Can I ask what the hell happened?” I asked and she chuckled.

“Jackson lectured us at the prom. It was pretty impressive may I add. I never thought he would do that.” She replied and looked in the distance dreamily. “I liked it if you ask me.” She turned her eyes at me and I grinned.
