The Feels

Today was long and tiring, for Happy. And when she told the team, it was just even harder.

Toby stood in shock for 3 minutes. He wasn't sure whether to be upset or excited.

Happy's emotions were mixed as well. She didn't know whether to be scared or excited.
She did feel bad for not telling Toby, but she had her reasons.

Paige finally decided to take charge.
   "Congratulations Happy!!! But guys I think we should give them some space. They have a lot to talk about."

But Walter wouldn't move. He physically couldn't.
Paige came up to him and grabbed his hand.

Finally everyone left.
It was just Toby and Happy.
Nobody else.
Just the two of them.
Well now the three of them.

   "So." Happy tried to start a conversation.
   "So..." Toby couldn't think. His brain was in hundreds of places at once.
   "You're...pregnant? How did I not-I thought-but-IM THE SHRINK!!! How did I not catch on to this-I just-"
   "Toby. Just stop. Its something we all will have to learn to accept.
That I'm better at hiding my feelings than all of you." She knew that would make him smile. But it didn't last long.
   "I just...didn't see this coming. When were you going to tell me?" Toby asked.
   "I was gonna tell you. I promise I was. I just wasn't expecting to tell you like this." Happy explains.
She looks at him for a few minutes.
No words.
Nothing.
Just tears starting to form in Toby's eyes.
    "Doc. Please don't cry. I'm supposed to be the girl. Don't cry." Happy pleads. But it doesn't work.
Toby cries.
He tried to say something, but it came out as a mumble instead.
Happy couldn't take it, to see him cry.
So she hugged him hoping it would make things better.
But all it did was make her cry.
She could feel his heart beat like the sound of a drum.
His warm arms embracing her.
It was all too unreal.
But when she stood up on her tip toes to kiss him...
That was when she felt it.
Joy.
Pure joy.
For the first time in a very long time they were both happy.
